520313 2007-01-29 10:32:00 Wasnt/Is Campbell Live backed by telecom?

What do you mean by backed?
I don't watch it enough to know if it has Telecom sponsorship - but I'd be surprised.
Anybody confirm this rumour?

520314 2007-01-29 10:34:00 Sponsored. Thats all. He made that point clear once on a show

Still seems like a conflict of interest to me.

520315 2007-01-29 10:36:00 Telecom’s decision to sign on as sponsor of Campbell Live would seem to have been on the money: it is clearly reaching an audience that cares about telecommun-ications. But the sponsorship (negotiated without reference to the show’s producers and offering no direct financial benefit to the programme) presented an obvious -difficulty when Campbell came to interview Gattung.

520316 2007-01-29 10:54:00 Thanks Dannz, for updating me so well.

Obviously I hadn't refreshed the page, hence hadn't seen jermsie's post.

And to noone - As a former news journalist, I wouln't assume John Canpbell was hampered in his questioning by the sponsorship.
Not nowadays, that is.

The days when advertisers could influence TV news content/slant never existed in my own experience. And if there were isolated local incidences, they were long ago.
The journalists' union had rules which knocked that kind of thing thoroughly on the head well before I left the scene.
Their most formidable critics would've been their fellow journalists...

520320 2007-01-29 23:03:00 someone should email to say why doesn't telecom buy more international bandwidth for go large users. Howcome smaller isp like orcon say they have more international bandwidth than xtra.why do the shape ftp and http(they say they don't but they do).
why is the contention ratio so high.

start emailing your questions if u want here for 2nite's show:

520321 2007-01-30 00:10:00 That’s a very good idea lance4k, to e-mail Campbell Live with questions on why Xtra Go large has so many problems e.g.:

1. why is international & local downloads speeds slower on Go Large then on any other plan

2. Why I am I only getting

From NZDSL
Download Speed: 1277 kbps (159.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 127 kbps (15.9 KB/sec transfer rate) when my line can get up to 8Mb/s ( according to the telecom guy who put in our ADSL line) & we use to get 300 – 400 KB/s on our old Xtra Adventure plan

3. why do the shape ftp?? ( I can understand why they shape p2p)

etc….

520322 2007-01-30 00:38:00 Yes, it is a good idea.
A chance for some of the complainers to try some constructive input.

Just a hint, though - from one who's read many lengthy diatribes here on this subject & also knows what it's like to be the person asking the interview questions.

1) Keep your questions short.
No point in loading them up with heaps of technical stuff. Anything not comprehensible by Average Viewer will be dumped.

2) 2 or 3 good basic questions are better than 5-10 tehnical ones. If there are multi-versions of the same problems, they'll show up as the most important.

3) Don't expect miracles.
There's only so much that can be covered in one TV item.
The earlier you send, the better your question can be digested.

(And although it's not a requirement, using your spellchecker isn't a bad idea...)
