519167 2007-01-25 18:46:00 have you ever had a serious session on a Mac.I think I'd rather pay good money to get pimples instead of having to endure a session on a Mac.

Sounds like something with onboard graphics using shared memory. Adding a video card, even a low end 64 meg one will make a big difference.Yeah I agree. Plus add another RAM stick.

519168 2007-01-25 21:23:00 The vid card and a Ram stick. Hmm... My bro has a $600 box I put for him last yr Sempron 2500+ 512MB, works v well for the net and WP its fine :D Its fast enof for me.

At the time I tried tell him to get a $1000 system, but he insisted in getting the avg system which was a 2.4 512MB in beginning 2003. Funny that, at the time we had a disgreement on something and then he sought advised from his uni or friends and ended up getting a computer at a CHC store, local store which supplies various schools with them, forget the name thou, $2500 with a cheap 21 inch CRT I think, he has a eyesight issue, yeah a all in one motherboard  At the time PC Company had a $2,000 system with a lot more bundle wasn't it .. not saying they were good but that was the particular date when he made the purchase.

I dont think there is any particular things wrong (error screens or really slow) with the computer, if it was, he would be bouncing up and down and yelling on MSN with caplocks :p

I think its been a few years, he wants a new computer and he wants to spend again the same $2000-2500 computer. He simply says a $1,000 PC for his work is crap and he need something faster and more modern. Its similar things with others, he wants a fancy cellphone or a new digital camera now and then. If he has to spend it , I thought disk speeds would be something that woudl be more apparent, at least he can see it, notice it and be satisfied :P Reminds me he went to Dragon PC mid last yr or abouts after asking me all the good stuff, and they said it was like $3500, they may not be the cheapest, it was like a dream PC, Soundblaster card, Nvidia 6800 back and the list goes on .... he even wants branded RAM and then a 19 LCD.

Something is funny, he has a CDRW and a DVD player, no idea why and last time he said he has a Sony DVDRW as well ... haha. I guess with him it must be Sony.

519169 2007-01-25 21:47:00 Nomad, 512ram is min for Windows XP. RAIS arrays are only good if you do graphical work, have SQL server or require fault tolerance. He wont notice any different on RAID 0 with 2 drives.

The other have suggested another stick of RAM and a dedicated graphics card and I agree.
