| 727995 | 2008-12-12 01:09:00 | Can someone please explain the relationship between RAM speed, and FSB speed, and what rule-of-thumb you should use to match the two? The MoBo I'm looking at (ASUS P5QL-E) can take: 4 x DIMM, Max. 16 GB, DDR2 1066/800/667 Non-ECC,Un-buffered Memory The FSB is rated as: 1600*/1333/1066/800 MHz *Overclock speed Also, is it better to get say 1 x 2Gb stick, or 2 x 1Gb, and run them in dual channel mode? :thumbs: |

| 727996 | 2008-12-12 01:15:00 | Well, DDR2 is twice the FSB speed, so 400FSB = 800mhz RAM = DDR2800, best ratio for this is 1:1 so it is in sync with the bus..... Best to have 2 x 1Gb for dual channel... |
