520644 2007-01-30 09:52:00 Hi all, have a Canon EOS 30D SLR digital camera that I am trying to connect with my computer. The camera specs say USB 2 & my computer has USB 1.1, my question is would I be able to download from the camera to computer with this miss match. Thanks for any help. jebby (4580)
520645 2007-01-30 10:06:00 Yes it will work, but fall back to the reduced usb1.1 speed (around 10MB/sec). So all will be ok.
Good camera

520646 2007-01-30 10:12:00 Thanks for that jermsie, I am having trouble getting the computer to recognize that the camera is attached, thought it maybe the wrong USB, oh well back to the drawing board. jebby (4580)
520647 2007-01-30 10:56:00 It should be fine. Its just that manufacturers recommend 2.0 because often you are dealing with large quantities of digital images or a large video file(s) and wouldn't it just be nice to have it all downloaded faster? beeswax34 (63)
520648 2007-01-30 20:48:00 The camera should have come with a CD with drivers on it. You'll probably need these installed before it will be recognised by Windows at least (not sure about other OSes). autechre (266)

Windows shouldn't have any problem recognising the camera.

My 350D didn't show in XP properly until I installed the drivers from the CD. As far as I can remember, it may have showed as a removable drive but I couldnt see any of the photos on the card in the camera.

Well I was going to say that a Mac would have done it straight off with no fuss but didn't want to start a war. ;) Except that Apple ditched USB 1.1 back in the 90's because it was way to slow.

Now winmacguy, you are starting to piss me off:mad: . Please start checking your infomation before you start posting incorrect facts on the forum, you are giving the other mac users on the forum a worst name then what we already have, plus the fact you are also giving some members ammo to shoot you down with
