728998 2008-12-14 07:25:00 My NEC notebook has been facing some internet connection problems of late. It has no problems connecting to the internet after startup, but after a while, the connection will suddenly die and there will be no networks available even thought the wi-fi button is switched on. Any advice/answers? The os is vista btw. JA88 (14012)
728999 2008-12-14 07:57:00 Does the connection suddenly die after the screen saver comes on, or after a period of no activity Or is it suddenly dieing when you are using it ? wainuitech (129)
729000 2008-12-14 08:21:00 it can happen anytime. even when i'm surfing the net halfway the connection just dies and then the only available options on the network list is "broadband connection ppoe" JA88 (14012)
729001 2008-12-14 08:26:00 Assuming that your Spyware etc free, It might be a good idea to get the latest versions of the drivers, or reinstall the current drivers. mabix (10146)
729002 2008-12-14 08:44:00 you're referring to wi-fi driver? JA88 (14012)
729003 2008-12-14 08:51:00 Could be a router problem -
What make and model of router do you have ?
Do you have more than this one Laptop connecting ?

Your LAN connection should be PPPoA - it appears the router may be dropping it settings and defaulting back to its default settings, as the laptop is detecting something.

When it drops - check the heat of the router - is it hotter than when working normally ?

729004 2008-12-14 08:57:00 Yes, he probably is.

Look in device manager under *network adapters*

Then go to the wifi manufacturer's website and download then install the drivers.

Uninstall it in device manager first, right click>uninstall.

Or, if the manufacture has a removal tool, use that

Good Luck:D
