728784 2008-12-14 00:29:00 Pictures cannot be resized & attached to Emails in Windows Mail.
Something has changed on this system. When a picture in windows photo gallery is selected & reduced in size to attach to email, it just dissapears. The new email window dosent open like it used to.
This is also the same if you try to use Office Picture manager.

Double check these settings in Windows Mail:
1. Click Tools - Options.
2. Click Read tab.
A) Uncheck "Read all messages in plain text"
3. Click Send tab.
A) Under Mail sending format, dot "HTML"
B) Under Mail sendig format, click the "HTML Settings" button.
C) Make sure "Quotable Printable" is selected and that "Send pictures
with messages" is checked. Click OK.
4. Click OK.

From the Vista Forum Help:
Insert, Picture, will be grayed out unless you have chosen HTML format.
You can either make HTML the default format, or choose it each time you
compose a new email.

Make sure you turn off all email scanning in your antivirus. If that does not
improve the situation, do a trial uninstall of the antivirus, then try sending
pictures again.


Also have a read through this forum (forums.vnunet.com) - theres a few links that I dont currently have time to look at, but may provide an answer.

728789 2008-12-14 04:01:00 Just remembered there is another problem on this system.
The user has put all his music files into group folders.
The names have all dissapeared from the folders.

Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.

Type the following command, and then press ENTER:

sfc /scannow

The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.

728792 2008-12-14 05:44:00 Okay - sounds like there are several problems - all relating to something being changed - you could "hit and Miss" for hours and get nowhere - If possible, can you remember if there has been any thing changed, in the settings, or any programs installed / Removed, OR any updates added THEN the problems began ? (no matter how unimportant it may seem at the time)

you can try running chkdsk Go to the C: drive from computer - right click the drive choose properties / tools
tab, you will find error checking. Tell it to run, prob say needs to run on next reboot - select Yes/OK and reboot.

It may find something but I suspect it wont - there will be something changed, and thats what needs to be found - whats changed ?

I spent some time looking at it today & talking with the user.
I will probably have another look on Tuesday armed with all your valuable sugestions
