| 521930 | 2007-02-02 11:31:00 | Hi, I'm thinking about selling my 2 year old Packard Bell Laptop, but I'm not sure what price I would get for it and if it is worth selling. Specs are at www.dealtime.co.uk except it has a brand spanking new 80GB Hard drive, XP Pro, 256MB RAM and has a DVD CD-RW Combo drive. How much do you think it will sell for if I did sell it? A 80GB is so so these days, anyway the HDD is probably no more than $120-150 2.5" laptop HDD (bought independently new). Many pple do just this to get a portable HDD when they go traveling in a enclosure case that accepts multiple formats of camera memory cards, runs off a battery so they don't have to drag a laptop along or use a internet cafe all the time or buy so many $$ memory cards. I think if you want just sell it and move on or else keep it and use it even if sparinly like on travel if you travel with a laptop that is, personally I find them too bulky and I prefer to dwell in the place than stare at a laptop each night. But I tend to use ultraportables anyway (but yet to travel with one), 1.2kg units ..... Mine is a P3 on windows 2000 so I have kept mine right now its probably worth no more than $300, initially over $4k new however I got it for 1 yr used with 2yr warranty left as it was a higher (business) ended model. I concur if you don't play games, why not just get a 2nd hand or new monitor/LCD and a external keyb and mouse and use it as a desktop PC? Upgrade the RAM and if you like install Vista. In the future when a new computer is required all you need is a newer lappie or a Desktop PC without the mouse/keyb and monitor/LCD. |
