728716 2008-12-18 22:47:00 That's where you have to set a route to Matt as opposed to normal web traffic going out the "internet" port.

that didnt actually answer the question.......................do i have to enable the conn to MATT before i run the batch file

728717 2008-12-19 00:26:00 You just need to basically run a command to set the gateway each time from what I can see?
Or run a proxy on your bro's PC and when you wanna go through that, configure the proxy

Either that, or just ditch one connection and setup some decent QoS on your router :)

728719 2008-12-19 01:07:00 As I mentioned before here (forums.pcworld.co.nz), I think you may have a reasonably simple fix (OK - I accept you can't just switch off your internet connection & save yourself some money...). Could you get back to us after looking there? Ta. MushHead (10626)
728720 2008-12-19 03:52:00 Do you want to be able to access both ports at the same time? depending on what you're playing, the answer is probably no.

In that case you should do similar to what Chill suggests, have two batch files,
"Matt" - which kills the internet port and sets the IP settings to your bro's house
"Internet" - which kills the Matt port and sets the IP settings to Telstra.

728721 2008-12-19 08:33:00 Up until a few months ago....i had both ports open all the time.....i just dont know whats changed
its weird

728722 2008-12-19 09:11:00 There shouldn't be any reason why Camiron can't have both ports active. It all comes down to the routing table. Once both ports are up, you should be able to set things up so that accesses to 192.168.1.x are automatically directed to MATT, while your default gateway is via the TelstraClear connection, for anything not on MATT's address range.

Just a thought after having a look at your motherboard specs - do you have any special drivers running/settings so that the interfaces are running in "teamed" mode or bridged mode? - the Gigabyte site's M/B summary talks about your dual-NICs to be able to operate together with auto-failover, etc. I'm wondering whether having that functionality enabled would cause your funny behaviour with the DHCP setting re-activating or enabling MATT stuffing up your settings on INTERNET.

I still think having the output of ipconfig & route print at the point where MATT is enabled might shine some light on things...
