But I'm sure you've seen plenty of comments to this effect by the mods. and yet, STILL no lock on old threads like this! Why do you think it's necessary to lock old threads, bevy121BONE? |

| 521424 | 2008-09-14 05:49:00 | You didn't actually answer my question. Because people and crawlers and spambots bring up old threads that probably have already been answered / resolved ages ago. Half the time it's to give a reply containing either a tip which is out of date or spam. |

| 521428 | 2008-09-14 22:24:00 | And in a similar vein, you yourself insist on a point of view that you are either unwilling or unable to qualify . . . although I do have a certain liking for that thread . . . I suggest you read the thread in full, I've "qualified" it more times than I care to think but unfortunately I can't change the laws of physics or aerodynamics . It is very very simple: Aerodynamics rule the principles of flight, and thrust (propellor or jet) is the added component for powered flight . Unless tied down to the surface of the earth, nothing in the wheel-ground interface can interfere with takeoff because all of the principles of flight are exercised ABOVE the surface of the planet, though enhanced by "ground effect" . That is what "flying" is all about . If you substituted a huge fan (or a hurricane) blowing down the runway the plane would lift off even without engine power, as planes often do if not tied down, in fact there's movies around of planes apparently flying (or landing) backwards in relation to the runway when the headwind exceeds minimum flying speed . It is that simple, so I could qualify my life away but it won't change a thing . It is a brain teaser with a simple hook that catches out anybody who can't think logically and ignore irrelevancies . The majority of respondents to that thread are in agreement that the plane flies, go back and check . Cheers Billy 8-{) |
