521233 2007-02-01 00:02:00 You shouldn't be linking to articles that are that old they talk about G5's and G4's. Hell if I was a gamer there is no way I would be playing them on a mac, and I'm a mac user. Not sure about the intel mac's for gaming but I presume that was what Metla was talking about. If it was me I would buy a console or build one specific for gaming.

That was the point of my original post about game coders not utilising the Open GL accelaration in OS X. Without it the games are pretty mediocre. However since I don't think there are any games that utilise it for either the PPC or Intel Mac platform there are no bench marks to compare against. So it your a Mac user who likes gaming simple - get a PC/Xbox or what ever weapon you prefer.

521234 2007-02-01 00:15:00 Your wrong, Metla is currently steaming and the insults would have been flying, he just chooses not to post

Something tells me he is a fairly young Mac user (late teens early 20's) judging by the fairly bull headed stubborn atitude (not that I am speaking from experience or anything  )

It takes all sorts I guess.

You could start a conversation about the bets brand of coffee machine here and it would turn into a Mac vs Windows debate ...

... the iEspresso vs Microsoft Natural Coffee Maker v6.7 (requires product activation) .....

This is hilarious, he posts this as a plus - anyone read the comments?
Just wiped that argument didn't it.
I did check that out the other day, none of my current favorites are available on Mac.
FEAR, both of them - HL2, any of it.

Anyway back to the first comment about Vista.
What Windows should be-

Since Windows 95, Microsoft have been promising that they will deliver an easy, simple, stable os.
twelve years later and we have just been delivered Windows Vista. Is it what they promised?

The thing is its still a piece of software.
How easy do you think it is to write code thats stable from go, idiot proof but eeasy to use and keeps the rest happy to who want to be able to make alterations?

Its just an O/S, and O/S was an interface between the user and the hardware, forget all the stupid stuff thats what causes all these problems.

521241 2007-02-01 02:22:00 yes, and instead of microsoft telling hardware manufacturers to get their acts together, they are always releasing patches etc etc. its crazy mabix (10146)

Well its a debate that is as old as Windows and Apple's OSes. But there's still truth in the assertion that MS has to deal with a vast array of hardware, and the vendors thereof and Apple does not. Apple controls the entire platform in a way that MS does not. The upside is we get hardware choices, the downside is we get the variable quality control of assorted hardware and software vendors in addition to whatever legimate complaints we can lay at Microsoft's door. Plenty of vendors get a free ride out of deflected anger at Microsoft.
