| 521650 | 2007-02-02 05:21:00 | I'll probably get a free version from my son . . but he better give me a seriously upgrade puter too . I personally don't see any advantage to getting it though . . XP runs what I want and I am still in the quest to get this server/video/audio library thing working first . . . . and I don't want to scrap it all to learn something new and untried yet . I was seriously considering getting Mepis or Ubuntu to run my net server idea . . but that too may have to wait until I figger out the XP system first . Why didn't Amiga win the silly OPSYS wars anyway? |

| 521652 | 2007-02-06 07:27:00 | Forgive me but I haven't been reading the Vista threads, just the PC World articles. My worry is that older software and drivers won't run on Vista. Is this going to be a problem? Depends on how old. I haven't had any issues with drivers, and have only had minor issues with two old programs (Notepad++ and Cashbook complete). The easiest way is to run the Vista Upgrade Advisor (www.microsoft.com), which will tell you whether or not it your current hardware AND software is compatible. |
