728949 2008-12-14 09:09:00 couple things to add.... some hp mobos are odd sized and use non standard layout making it hard to fit into some cases.

some cases have mounts on th backing plate for heatsink. heatsink mounts through the motherboard. very handy if your into very heavy heatsinks.

728950 2008-12-14 09:21:00 Right found what I was after -- Is the fan actually attached to the heatsink already - according to This picture (www.imagef1.net.nz)of a dx2200 the fan is mounted correctly. wainuitech (129)
728951 2008-12-14 09:41:00 yep as above says the heatsink is mounted onto the motherboard then the fan screws into the heatsink from what i could see just now, and the pic above looks exactly like my motherboard, so what should i do? lol lisamarie01 (6731)
728952 2008-12-14 09:48:00 Well if thats whats its meant to look like, there's not much you can do about it

Just as long as its secure it should be OK

728954 2008-12-14 10:18:00 What is it? A P4 478 pin?? If it is I would get a proper P4 heatsink/fan Speedy Gonzales (78)
728955 2008-12-14 10:21:00 Best bet, take it to a tech, or maybe if you live in the same town/city as one of the techs here; maybe one will stop by and have a look and advise you.

Otherwise, I can see a sh|t load of trouble in the near future through lack of understanding/details
