| 522288 | 2007-02-03 22:51:00 | Its fairly certain that man's activities over the last 100 years have contributed to global warming; the jury is out by how much. Seems like sea levels will rise, by how much, how knows. Maybe I won't buy that $2.5M property by the sea... ok maybe I will, sell it after 10 years before sea levels rise by much and someone else can worry about it. :D Cellphones don't cause cancer either... of course in 10/15 years time, when there is more long term data available, the cellphone companies may have to back track (but then who really knows). Yes I do have a cellphone but I limit use, both for $ reasons as much as I don't like RF energy hanging around (what cellphone tower  ) |

| 522289 | 2007-02-03 23:24:00 | Oh dear. We've just been given really important info about global warming with a statement from a gathering of acknowledged world experts. Finally, the " real oil." Who's acknowledged them I haven't. It is like so many things these days it is just a political football and the news media is bloody hopeless. They wouldn't know what investigative journalism is. Read "Hidden Agendas" by John Pilger. |

| 522290 | 2007-02-03 23:26:00 | Your link is to a small-time source quoting one writer about "global warming " on Mars. If you want to raise the subject, surely it makes more sense to quote what's happening closer at hand. Go back and read the article properly. The guy is not a nobody. Bahh! |

| 522292 | 2007-02-03 23:32:00 | I"ll start taking it seriously when they ground all air-planes that can take more then 20 people, and restrict motorized vechles to motorcycles. And they can also **** about cow farts, thats our food god damn it. Anyhow, whats I hear about a volcano fart the other day that released more co2 into the air then all the cars in the world combined?, If our cows farting is an issue then how about them 3 billion Indians and their curries?, Are curries going to be banned? And, as "caretakers" of the planet to we expect that the temperature of the world has to remain static while we are in resident?, even though we know this has never happened in the past? Change is something we cant stop, The Earth is older and larger then all of us if no one has noticed, we are smaller then fleas, Not even noticeable in the community the earth inhabits, and we will be shaken off and forgotten like fleas. |

There was an article via shortnews.com to do with brain tumours I think and cell phones. |

| 522295 | 2007-02-03 23:40:00 | Who's acknowledged them I haven't. It is like so many things these days it is just a political football and the news media is bloody hopeless. They wouldn't know what investigative journalism is. Read "Hidden Agendas" by John Pilger. Please explain the hidden agenda here. I'm all ears. Although they there are scientists who no doubt need to keep their funders happy, there are many who are totally indendent. You cannot deny the world is warming up (unless you don't believe the figures of course). There could be a number of factors for this, one is CO2 emissions. |

Helen Clark is sending the volcano a bill for carbon tax  Seriously though, yes there are lots of natural phenomenon which emit all sorts of nasty things into the atmosphere, but does that give us the right to pollute our world (although I still have a soft spot for the RG500 and RZ500 :D ). |

| 522297 | 2007-02-03 23:54:00 | There are 3 qeustions to be answered. One - Is Global Warming really happening ? I mean it does not seem any warmer here in NZ than 30 years ago, it still gets cold in winter. I have not seen any rise in water levels. But I must admit that the retreat of the polar ice cap, and the lack of ice on the European Alps and Mt Kilimanjaro do worry me. Two - Is just being caused by mankind ? Yes what about all those volcanoes ? Pinatubo, the One in Indonesia, Mt Washington, Krakatoa 100 years ago etc etc. How much do they put out compared to human output ? Three - What can we do about it ? To my mind pathetic plans like reducing carbon emisisons by 5% is hopeless, due to the world's growing population and growing use of oil etc. Just think of all the new cars in China, India and Brazil that weren't there 20 years ago and how many there will be in 20 years time ! My solution and one that no one has ever metenioned it is that WE HAVE to start reducing the world population which is still growing. My plan would be to limit every women in the world to two children only. Once she has had two children then she will have to be compulsoraily steriled. (drastic I know) The fact that women must produce more than two children to keep the population rising, and my plan which would mean less than two children per woman, as many women would not have their quota, then I imagine that over the next 20 years or so the world's popualtion would start to shrink. Who knows, it may need to be one child per woman for 20 year or so to make a major impact to start the population falling. Lower population would mean a better standard of life and more resources to be spread out for longer. I mean how much oil is there ? or iron or titanium or gold and copper for my pc, or water ? or productive land ? Regards Digby PS my name is Green, but I am not a fan of theirs, but I do feel that we should start to do something ! |
