521598 2007-02-01 08:14:00 I've installed it but.... yes I'm having driver problems.

It wont allow me to load my Canon MP170 printer drivers-contact Canon it says. Also my Canon Digital Camera drivers - no!

Please excuse my ignorance, but why would you need to load drivers into vista for a common printer and a digital camera?

521599 2007-02-01 08:18:00 Laura i realise you werent bagging vista, i was just making a point that a lot of people do bag something before theyve even tried it. have you got vista yet, or are you sticking with xp. Hitech (9024)
521600 2007-02-01 09:09:00 I have Vista Ultimate installed (full retail version - though didn't cost me anything - was given to me by Microsoft).

I had some initial problems with it (because I did an upgrade, rather than a full install), which I later also experienced again after a clean install. It turned out that Notepad++ (not the Windows Notepad) was conflicting with something inside Vista, causing it to crash when you tried to view photo slideshows, and do certain other things. After uninstalling it, everything has been smooth sailing since.

No driver issues whatsoever, no speed issues or resource-hogging issues.

Would I recommend it to people? Yes, only if your PC can run it. Is it a "must have"? No. I suspect most people would be happy with XP (or even Win2k for that matter). Though I do have to say the security features have impressed me quite a bit, which definetely was lacking in previous version of Vista.

[Edit: Pre emptive strike - please, if you don't like Vista, don't try to convert me. I'm happy with Vista, and intend to continue using it. You are more than welcome to use whatever OS you want, because everyone has different needs and preferences. If you want to use Linux, fine - stick to it, if you want to use Mac, fine - use it, if you want to use DOS, then you please yourself. Just don't try to tell me that I'm an idiot.]

have you had ant issues with existing software?

what I should of said was are programs like Nero and or Photoshop all ready for Vista or is this not an issue

521602 2007-02-01 09:20:00 Pre-existing SW: The only issues are Notepad++ (as I mentioned earlier), and Acclaim Software's Cashbook program (sometimes crashes, and doesn't always close properly). Adobe Flash player will throw up an error on installation, which is fixed by clicking "Reinstall with recommended settings" on the Vista error box.

I don't have a copy of Nero or Photoshop, so I can't try that out for you sorry.

No plans to get Vista, Hitech.

I'm not an innovator - far from it.
I'm still coming to grips with the mysteries of XP.
I'm hoping that Vista will still be around by the time I've cracked that.
