2007-01-31 21:52:00 | Yeah, but thats a bit worrying as well, that would be nice as long as apple dosen't do excatly what microsoft have done to us | mabix (10146) | |
2007-01-31 21:56:00 | I guess at the end of the day neither company is perfect, one company has very questionable business ethics but gives you a much better set up for gaming and the other company gives you the best set up for just about everything else. | winmacguy (3367) | |

Macs Rock. But you cant blame apple for the gaming support- OS X Could be a excellent gaming setup if the gaming companies would get off their butts and do something about it |

2007-01-31 22:31:00 | If game developers were to utillise the Open GL accelleration then games on OS X would be awesome, until that happens though, games will just have to be suited to the Windows platform. | winmacguy (3367) | |

2007-01-31 22:46:00 | Dream? Of what? Games machines that cost more and run the games slower and uglier? Why would you want to dream of that?

2007-01-31 22:48:00 | jesus christ, are you THICK? the tech that os x uses would kick ass if game developers would start producing games based on os x technology | mabix (10146) | |
2007-01-31 22:51:00 | I think mabix was dreaming of games running at the same or better speeds under Open GL accelleration on OS X than they do in Windows but I would say at this stage that it would be a pipe dream since Windows is obviously the bigger market for game developers to focus on (glass half empty way of thinking). As for machines that cost more (Vista Ultimate capable machine Vs OS X Machine) -- subjective opinion. | winmacguy (3367) | |
2007-01-31 22:56:00 | Lmao. The video cards used in Mac's are crippled, The clock speed is lower then the PC equivalent. For the price you would pay for a reasonably capable Mac games machine you could buy a PC twice as powerful (as far as eye candy and FPS are concerned) Furthermore development of OpenGL stalled years ago, Its not capable of what Directx is, Granted the best in the bizzo like Carmak (sp?) can do well with it but thats an exception. There are plenty of Mac games on the market, and they run like utter rubbish, Far worse then they should, History is on my side of the argument. Am I thick?....Are you worthy of making that judgment? Now, I'm in no doubt that Apple could make a reasonable games machine, But it would take far more then just coding a game in OpenGL, It would require a change in hardware, software, price, and attitude. That change wont happen so, At the end of the day you would still be paying more for a games machine that ran games slower and uglier.
