522159 2007-02-03 05:59:00 I want to purchase Adobe Premiere Elements 3 and softwareshop.co.nz seems to have a good price. Has anyone used them? Or can someone recommend somewhere to purchase it? pine-o-cleen (2955)
522160 2007-02-03 06:03:00 That price actually looks pretty good considering your buying the basic version of professional grade software in good old NZ. If you can get it cheaper and legit somewhere else good luck to you. winmacguy (3367)
522161 2007-02-03 06:27:00 Who said anything about legit? Haha nah I kid, I thought it was a good price just want to be sure about the shop before I give them my credit card details. pine-o-cleen (2955)
522162 2007-02-03 06:40:00 Well I am sure you could "get" a copy from somewhere else ;). I actually bought a copy of Adobe Premier Elememts 2 ( I think) a couple of years ago but found that I needed a Firewire card on my PC in order to import from my DV camera and I only had USB2. The updated version was added USB functionality. The original cost me about $198 I think, from Noel Leemings. It is very good beginner DV editing software. winmacguy (3367)
522163 2007-02-03 07:02:00 I thought Adobe Premier Elements 4 was out now. Could the price be discounted to make way for the new version? Murray P (44)
522164 2007-02-03 07:07:00 softwareshop.co.nz seems to have a good price. Has anyone used them?I've bought from them recently. Very happy with the whole process. Greg (193)
522165 2007-02-03 08:26:00 Just thought I would put my 2c in - we have used these guys for the last year or 2 at work and we have never had any problems with them - they are quick to respond and try to have the best price for NZ new stuff (no parallel imports). Actually seems to be run by one person but she seems to have no problem. We have bought things from them ranging from $20 to well over $10K and would recommend them.

522166 2007-02-03 09:18:00 Hmm seems minimum specs are 1gb of ram. pine-o-cleen (2955)
522167 2007-02-03 09:25:00 Hmm seems minimum specs are 1gb of ram.

Well I have/had 512MB on my PC at home which was sufficient for the version of Adobe Premier Elements that I had although I never really got a chance to test it. One thing with proper DV editing is that you can never have too much HD space or too much RAM.

DV editing differs from gaming in that you need more RAM for rendering as opposed to a higher specd monitor or graphics card.

You could give it a try with your existing RAM and then ad more if it is too sluggish.

522168 2007-02-03 09:27:00 Ok, now for a technical question. If I get this software I'm going to have to upgrade my ram.

I have this motherboard www.gigabyte.com.tw

...and that link says that it takes this type of ram:

1. Type : DDR400/333/266-184pin

...now I have no idea what those numbers mean and they don't seem to correspond to how ram is described....eg "1gb PC3200 DDR". So umm....what type of ram do I need?
