521164 2007-01-31 19:05:00 Instead of spending $400 million dollars to buy an Australian power company why not spend $ 400 now on our New Zealand backbone or some more cabinets or VDSL.

521166 2007-01-31 19:47:00 Why are they buying a power company not a telco techiekid (7219)
521167 2007-02-01 00:15:00 Why are they buying a power company not a telco

"PowerTel has the second biggest fixed-line broadband network in Australia, and stakes in iiNet and Macquarie Telecom, while AAPT, as the third largest phone company, has high customer numbers."

521168 2007-02-01 00:44:00 Yes I can see why they are buying into a powerco as there will soon be triple and quadruple and quintuple plays, get your power, phone, sky and broadband and mobile and petrol from us and we'll give you 5% discount !

But why not get broadband going well, when every one is screaming, and why not buy a NZ power co ?

521169 2007-02-01 04:59:00 the idiots are losing more and more money, and losing their grip becuase of the government here. looks like they are going to kill the internet over in Aussie aswell. Jams (1051)
521170 2007-02-01 16:57:00 I Must apologise to Telecom. They are not that dumb after all !

I just read in the Herald that Powertel in Australia is the second largest ISP for supplying fixed line broadband ! And also most of their lines in the 3 big cities is fibre optic !

So perhaps Telecom hope to learn something from a power company that they haven't learned from reading this forum or listening to their users ?
