729285 2008-12-15 07:03:00 That can load 64 bit isos?

Virtual PC is pretty hopeless. Even tho there's a 64 bit version of it, there's no option to use x64 in it

I've just slipstreamed XP Pro x64 and its updates, with Nlite.

I just want to test it with something like Virtual PC, to see if its OK. Before I install it

729286 2008-12-15 07:16:00 VMware server can run 64bit guests.

Pays to run the software (vmware) on a 64bit host, but I've read it's possible to have a 32bit host run x64 guests, albeit with severe performance penalties.

729287 2008-12-15 07:23:00 Thats cool, it is a 64 bit system.

I had to install X Pro x64, on a 64 bit system .

Since Nlite wont let you slipstream 64 bit updates on a 32 bit system

Thats why I thought Virtual PC would work. Since the file I installed was the 64 bit version

Bloody hell, its big enough isnt it lol. Lucky, I'm on broadband, I'll be here for the next week

729288 2008-12-15 07:47:00 if you still need a VM - One I came across the otehr day in the APC mag is Virtual Box (www.virtualbox.org) - just looked and they have a 64Bit - AMD only though. Around 36MB wainuitech (129)
729289 2008-12-15 07:49:00 Try Qemu or VirtualBox (Which AFAIK is just a nice Qemu front-end) Chilling_Silence (9)
729290 2008-12-15 07:55:00 It's AMD WT, the 754 at the mo.

I would put x64 on this, BUT then Itunes (unless you edit the install file wont work - It wont burn, altho I dont use the burn / rip option anyway), the tuner, this Bluetooth dongle wont work (no XP Pro x64 drivers)

The version I install (x32/x64), may not be the prob, it needs to load 64 bit OS ISO's tho, which Virtual PC doesnt do

I may as well get VMWare now lol 5 mins to go (which is amazing, its usually not this fast at this time of the night)

I'll get Virtualbox as well

729291 2008-12-15 08:26:00 If you get a chance, post back your findings with VirtualBox.
Last time I checked, the x64 guests didn't seem well supported (or a lot more involved to setup and run as opposed to vmware).

729292 2008-12-15 08:30:00 I will when it decides to download. Im getting it at 16.4k lol whoopee

I could go to the pub and come back, and it'll still be going

It looks like the bloody thing has gone to sleep. It just said the source cant be read. So its either disappeared / stuffed or dead (the link)

It'll have to wait till tomorrow its too slow

729293 2008-12-15 08:47:00 Well that was a total waste of 580 mb lol. An error appeared in event viewer saying

Server.msi is not permitted due to an error in software restriction policies processing. The object can not be trusted  wtf

Then a window appears saying the system admin has set policies to prevent this install. Yer right, well it wasnt me

Now I have to find out what the hell that means

729294 2008-12-15 09:10:00 Well figured out how to install it, but buggered if I know what youre meant to do with it

I want something simple, not a degree to figure out what it is, or what to do with it

Think I'll get virtualbox, when and if it decides to download
