729265 2008-12-15 05:43:00 Can someone tell me;
1- Are they worth mucking around with?
2- Do they actually achieve the results they claim?
3- Can they speed up my computer?

I have a free version downloaded called "Advance SystemCare V3 but says it can only do so much and reckons I have 500 errors and buying the full version will speed up my computer by 208%. My computer has some missing files thanks to the odd trojan and viruses a while back but nothing since. I cannot make certain things work on some websites. All a learning curve still, but can anyone help?

2. No, if a program that say "300% boost in speed!" or something similar then its probably fake and just wants you to buy their program.

3. Yes, but don't expect them to make a dual core computer feel like a quad core, they will just delete unused entried, you might see a 3% increase in speed at most.

I have tried AdvancedSystemCare and it is pretty good, but I still think CCleaner i sbest.
If you really want a performance boost, post a HijackThis Log here and tick/fix the entried we tell you to check, we can remove unneeded programs from your startup

You can also defrag your system, I recommend Defraggler, Auslogics defrag and JKdefrag, all fast and free.

You can also remove unused drivers from your start up, we'll post instructions here later if you want

729267 2008-12-15 06:45:00 You Don't need any registry repair tool !
most are a con/gimmick and the rest are often rogue/malware.

AVOID!

No. Use CCleaner.
No.
No. While reducing startup items and clutter can help a tiny bit nothing improves your PC like new hardware.

729270 2008-12-15 21:08:00 Use Ccleaner, it is still the best and safest to use.
I also use Advanced System Care 3 and have never had any trouble with it asking me to download the Pro version.
You say you "cannot make certain things work on some websites." Maybe you need to update Java, and/or Flash Player?

Cheers LL
