523848 2007-02-08 10:18:00 I honestly believe that only people who have a genuine need for such vehicles such as farmers, rescue authorities etc should have such vehicles at their disposal. Freedom to buy and sell whatever you want is great but I do not want to give some idiot the freedom to crash into me or my car and injure me or my family.

The lady who could not see the child(ren)- Is she going to do anything about her 4x4? No, of course not, she and her family will forget everything that they learnt by the next week. I bet you that they will probably go out and by another one. People never learn and never will learn.

523849 2007-02-08 10:27:00 Yes, its my choice to buy a vehicle that has 3 times the chances of rolling than a normal car and can kill a pedestrian at 15k/hr.

I had to laugh when the lady mentioned she ran over her laptop in the hired 4WD and she didn't even know she had.

523850 2007-02-08 11:00:00 Didn't see it.

Remember its the nut behind the wheel, not the vehicle.

523851 2007-02-08 19:02:00 Mainly its the nut behind the wheel thats the problem, not certain types of vehicles .

Notice the bit where they show a car crumple up because it has no chassis and then they show a cut away of a 4WD full chassis? But they didn't show a crash with one?

I like full chassises, last car I had with one, I got hit up the back by a bus and just found a small dent on the overrider .

But we are meant to think they are bad . Rubbish, all this crumple stuff came about because Americans wouldn't wear seatbelts .

523852 2007-02-08 20:24:00 saw bits of it. nothing to new to me.

the problem is simply people don't drive them to how they are ment to be driven.

sure they feel like cars but by god they don't handle anything like them. out in the country side here we get quite a few single vechile 4x4 accidents. they are well known to go sideways very easly on slippery roads and 2 ton vechiles are not that easy to get out of a slide. i know of one local who drove the same sort of ute as mine and wrapped it around a powerpole on a straight tarseal road in a 50km/h aera in middle of town (no booze involved either)

my older 2 wheel drive outhandles my new "good handling" 4x4 on the road. i can go so much quicker around courners in it yet everyone says the 4x4 handle far better than the old 2 wheel drive. go fiqure.

a mate bought a remuewa tractor.. a pajero from a mate in remuewa ! it had never been in 4x4 in its life, so much so the hubs had seized and 4x4 wouldn't work. don't worry it now it plenty of 4x4 work :)

i had once a person who tried to turn their 4x4 around on the lawn on a place i was visting. they promptly got it stuck. so i told them "no problem just put it into 4x4", they replyed "how do you do that"
*** ! ! ! and it was a yuppy 4x4 to, just hit the button on the gearstick.

those who do not want to learn to drive should be banned from driving ! !

523853 2007-02-08 20:39:00 The problem is when it turns to custard and a 4WD is involved in an accident (be it caused by the driver or other events), it causes more damage to other parties, be it smaller vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists etc, especially if it has bull bars .

The interesting point is that if 2 4WD's crash, the injuries are more severe than if 2 normal passenger cars collide . Think about that .

The minister of transport would ban bull bars tomorrow if he could . Roll on that day .

523854 2007-02-08 23:03:00 I missed the program unfortunately, and I know a Honda CRV isn't a **REAL** 4WD, but how did it rate (I saw one on a hillclimb in an ad for the program)?? johcar (6283)
