523719 2007-02-08 03:24:00 Hi Folks. Anyone out there can give me a quick and dirty breakdown on the above - comparison with/advantages over OE6, whether it has a spellchecker, etc., before I get in to discussions this weekend with a family member who thinks that it is the best thing since sliced bread. As always - advice appreciated. I'm an old fashioned OE6 man myself. Scouse (83)
523720 2007-02-08 03:56:00 Yes they're right - its the best thing since sliced bread.
I have 1.7.7 though..........
You can have the spellchecker - its in the install options, its not separate like sucky OE.

523721 2007-02-08 06:40:00 Running 1.7.12 here. It's fantastic. The integrated email client is excellent. The seperate profiles for various users is a treat to use, keeping your own settings and email seperate from others who use the same computer.

It's reliable and for me it downloads pages quicker than IE. Also it doesn't fail on huge (1GB+) file downloads which IE is known to do.

Middle click and tabs give it a big advantage over IE6. The only minor complaint I have is the bookmark manager is a bit basic, but there's enough options in that dept to keep me happy.

523722 2007-02-08 10:26:00 I'm using Mozilla 2 and I can tell you that its the best thing since fire and sliced bread. The simple fact that you can open multiple tabs and not have to muck around with different windows is simply amazing. The spell checker is good and so is the ability to put add-on's and enhancements of many kinds. And like Greg said, it is faster and said to be safer and you can simply middle click to open links in new tabs. It is also far more customisable to your needs and usage.

That said, IE7 tries to copy a lot of this but I have used that maybe 2 or 3 times in the last month. MF2 forever...

523723 2007-02-08 20:03:00 I'm using SeaMonkey 1.1, the successor to Mozilla and it's even better. Not sure about email though, don't have it installed, but the browser works just fine. autechre (266)
