522613 2007-02-04 06:58:00 Hi Team

Our F&P dish-drawer has taken to stopping with a red indicator and error code F4. There is some water left in the bowl so I am wondering if it might indicate a pump blockage or failure.

It doesn't happen every time, at least it went through a full cycle OK when restarted after the last time it showed. Mrs T is threatening mayhem if I don't sort it quick!

Cheers

My mothers did something - can't remember exactly to do with not emptying anyway. It was some clip they used for the hoses, the guy changed it.

Ring them and hassle them - remember its still under warranty.

I ended up clearing one once. Their is near the front on the bottom of the drawer a hole that runs through to the centre and some rubbish had got caught there and needed fishing out with a bit of wire. Sounds like what you might have.

522617 2007-02-04 08:35:00 Gee, I guess technology that tells you what is wrong with your appliance shouldn't be heeded, nor should the manufacturers fairly straightforward explanation of the fault code... go figure. :illogical Shortcircuit (1666)

Where did you find that F4 description SC? I googled NZ with several different search terms expecting an F&P fault guide to pop up and all I got was ads for apartments with F&P appliances . Adding the F4 code to the above brought up the same ads plus their gib-stopping standards!

Anyway, it may be a blockage and temperature problem! On inspection I found the filters for both drawers clogged solid, it appears that Mrs T has never removed them for cleaning .

We appear to have got away with that for this long (5 years) because we always rinse dishes clean before putting then through a fast wash cycle . So, having regained the moral high ground here, if that doesn't fix it I can now call for a serviceman without my reputation for household repairs suffering too much damage!

Cheers

522620 2007-02-04 09:18:00 The fault codes are listed in the instructions.

You know how men ALWAYS read the instructions? :D

522622 2007-02-05 06:45:00 When we cleaned ours out after several years' use, we found the underside of the perforated plate had a healthy crop of brown algae - periphyton ?? - growing on it. I guess it must be a special variety of periphyton that lives in hot water and gets its nutrients from food scraps, but can survive heavy doses of chlorine.

Whenever we get a red light, we just keep hitting the buttons in various permutations until it goes away. We've got the instructions somewhere........
