2008-12-18 09:25:00 | I think the only advantage of partitioning is that if you need to re-format the c:\ drive at any time in the future, (to re-install Windows), you can do it without losing all your music etc on the e:\ drive. | decibel (11645) | |
2008-12-18 09:32:00 | Yup, I wouldnt make C as big as the other partitions. Otherwise if you do format, it'll probably take a year just to format C

2008-12-18 12:39:00 | Id like to have my personal music that Im working on seperate to the rest of the files on the PC, as that takes up a fair bit of space i was thinking of making a 300 gig partition for it. Really the only other thing on there would be standard stuff, Im not interested in having movies and stuff on my pc. Maybe a few games and some software for images and the normal word, xl etc

2008-12-18 12:46:00 | How many hard drives do you have? Is this the main HD with windows installed or just an additional HD? | Rob99 (151) | |

2008-12-18 12:48:00 | I had 2 but decided just to stick with one. Ill add the other to my old pc to bring that one up to 600gig and sell it off. | rob_on_guitar (4196) | |
2008-12-18 12:58:00 | 20 to 50Gb for your C: Then the rest as D: It is always a good idea to have the operating system and installed programs separate to your data. But when you start splitting a drive just to sort data when folders will do the same, you are just asking for a head ache later on, when say you fill your 300Gb partition of music then have to giggle things around, just a pain. If you are on a local network you can still share folders, others can mount them as separate drives.
