| 525661 | 2007-02-19 04:02:00 | From my reading and study of these boards etc, it seems that Vista is not only not worth buying, but is full of design drawabacks. (I am sure they will fix any major bugs and the lack of drivers will fix itself over time) So I am going to wait for Vienna or more usefully a new OS from someone such as Google. I am sure with their resources (money) and expertise (programmers) and their experience (in search technology) they could write a small fast basic Gui OS for Intel/AMD machines. Then others could add all the little extensions that we like as in the old days of Dos and 3.11. What is Google's phone number ? .... I wonder if they would pay me for the idea ? a couple of mill would do Regards Digby |

| 525662 | 2007-02-19 04:13:00 | The problem with a "small fast basic OS" is that it gets "improved". Soon it becomes a large slow "user friendly" OS with lots of "features". Even Windows was small, once. |

| 525665 | 2007-02-19 06:13:00 | It wont be long until microsoft pull the plug on supporting xp and eventually over time most people will be on vista, Then those who knock vista now will then turn and knock the so called next OS called Vienna and everyone will say dont buy it youre a mug etc etc. But in the end the ones who knock, all end up like sheep and follow on with everyone else who has vista. Time will soon tell. |

Its amazing how many people in this forum sit here and bad mouth Vista, yet im sure if you were able to do a search of the old forum you'd find they were the same people bad mouthing XP . They seem to hate it purely because its new and they aren't comfortable with it(generally the reason people hate most things ;)) If you think Vienna will be treated any differently your a fool! |
