| 525475 | 2007-02-18 02:02:00 | The US misgovernment want this, so there are a few commercial versions installed at some airports. They have a high "false positive" rate. I don't think they have caught any "terrorists". Have a look at Wikipedia (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Facial_recognition_system). "face recognition"to Google will get you more. There's a lot of money to be made in this, but it's easier to promise success than to provide it in the real world. :D |

The most recent highlight fromn the development team was when they captured a snap from a TV programme called "The ten most wanted", put it in to (I think) Colorado's drivers licence system and came up with the wanted man using a false name. Been several similar hits during the development.... raising questions about what the photo id on drivers' licences is for and who can access it, etc. | Scouse (83) | ||

They also showed a nifty machine that is similar to an xray machine but it can see organic things through stuff like metal. Bananas in trucks showed up real well, so did the people hiding among them. |
