Are you prepared to increase the amount of tax paid to the government each year, so that they can have the pleasure of travelling around in a Mercedes?

524969 2007-02-15 17:41:00 I am not a "Greenie" but the late Rod Donald had a pushbike he used for travelling to parliament.

What a great idea for these useless turds! First person to have one should be Horomia, who is a disgrace.

Maybe we should get them all on pushbikes
Though that may cause problems when going long distances :D

524971 2007-02-15 19:44:00 Why not turn the debating chamber into a cycledrome? . . .

visions of (badly) performing monkies on bikes ensue :stare:

Though that may cause problems when going long distances :DBut this would then make them think (well, maybe!) when travelling at the taxpayers expense.... Actually, the more time they spend outside Parliament, the less damage they do to the country - good idea, Dannz!:D :2cents:

1. Politicians (the survivors, that is) would realise the health benefits of cycling.

2. The survivors would realise how damn dangerous it is out there pushing pedals, and maybe legislate (that is after all what they do best) to fix it.

3. Disliked politicians (aren't they all???!!!) on cycles would be easy targets for grumpy motorists/unhappy voters.

4. The air in Wellington would be cleaner with less gas-guzzlers on the road.

5. The wages bill for politicians would be lower (see comments 2 and 3) because there would be fewer of them.

6. Less time spent in Parliament (i.e. more time spent travelling) = less stupid laws passed.

:D

524974 2007-02-15 21:31:00 Great. yet another example of politicians self importance. Whilst Maryann & I struggle to afford a cheap Jap Import on OAP. PJ:yuck:  Poppa John (284)
524975 2007-02-15 22:53:00 They are all pretty horrible cars . They would be better with a VW Passat or a citreon C5 or C6 although I don't think NZ import the C6, it is a very nice car to drive . wikipedia . org/wiki/Citroën_C6" target="_blank">en . wikipedia . org

The 607 is a very old car released in 1999 and a replacement model is due out soon . Maybe they can get them very cheap as a run out, but they are also not a good ride, and the build quailty of pegeout, the electronics and interior linings start breaking down after 5 years .

Skodas have a very bad name due to past problems, although they are now built by VW . They would be the cheapest option and maybe if they are spending our money, this would probably be the best choice .
