525967 2007-02-20 19:53:00 I wish Hyundai could win something. Then I could feel real cool driving around in my Sonata. Biggles (121)
525968 2007-02-20 19:57:00 There needs to be a third option - I don't really care. :D

Agreed. It's only a Ozzy card Vs Ozzy card race. Foreigners not allowed. They should open it up to all comers..

They used to allow all-comers, but they got all minty because the Nissan Skyline ran rings around them!

Skoda .
Skoda has become a class act since VW took it over and now command premium prices . In fact, they are a top class european vehicle, but without the extra price you pay for a VW badge . IIRC Skoda also did very well in rallying even before they were bought by VW .

If you really want an insult, try Trabant, though I believe that since the reunification of Germany they have become a cult car and command premium prices . :illogical

525970 2007-02-20 20:48:00 Skoda.Don't laugh, and although I don't know what the current situation is, but a number of years ago Skodas were being built with engines developed by Porsche. I was embarrased once in England when a fellow in a Skoda brought it on while I was driving a Ford XR3 - he left me trailing woefully!

[edit] Just read Billy's post which probably confirms what I said - Skoda's would have been doing well on the circuits with the Porsche engine, and were made into a better car after the takeover by VW.

Yes true true. The Ozzie V8s are really bricks on four wheels and handle as such.

525972 2007-02-20 22:14:00 Adding insult to injury, the Nissan driver was kiwi "Gentleman" Jim Richards, who was moved to call the aussie fans pack of bastards (IIRC) when the Skyline won after the race was stopped due to a hailstorm. He slid off the track at Forest Elbow (I think) but according to the rules they took the result from the last full lap and he was leading at that point. The fans booed him on the podium.

Jim was magic to watch back in the Sidchrome? Hillman Imp, fastback Ford Anglia and latterly the Sidchrome Mustang. He was matched wheel for wheel in the Anglia by David Simpson in an identical car, a driver of equally stupendous talent who simply vanished from the scene in the late 60's or early 70's, which was a real shame. Anybody know what happened to him?

Cheers

Speaking of Aussie fans, I wonder how many shot themselves after the Black Caps cleaned them out in three straight games? Happy happy, joy joy!

Happy happy, joy joy!Latest I heard was that half the colony had re-graded themselves as Ex-Poms and given up any notion of being a republic, with a further quarter of the people declaring themselves as Outer Islanders of New Zealand. 525974 2007-02-21 06:34:00 Uh, why would anyone have a problem with the Aussies running an Aussie Vs Aussie series in Aussie?

Makes perfect sense doesn't it? After all there is plenty of alternative series that are open in regards to manufacture origin, Go watch those, And as you may have noticed they did start an alternative series that was open and raced at Bathurst, It died from lack of support.

Now, Can we campaign against teh Japs for running their JPTC series with SHOCK HORRER...Only japanese cars?, Or what about the Europeans with their European touring car series.....
