| 524325 | 2007-02-19 13:09:00 | Certainly am! Was wondering if I was going to keep it or return it and cancel contract, but figure I'll take a punt and see how it goes. Even if it all goes belly up, its a free phone, and will underline how much I prefer Nokias  | Sick Puppy (6959) | ||
| 524326 | 2008-04-17 07:07:00 | Hiya, remember this from yesteryear? lol Well, I ended up taking it in for repairs for a number of reasons, mostly because it kept on kicking me out of the menu when I was using the music and address functions, the alarm didn't work and the calendar function wasn't quite right either. I found shortly afterwards that the V3x is widely regarded as a POS- my friends in oz went through ten of these in a year between the three of them... just as well it was free! Anyhow, I got it back with the latest software and then left it in a drawer for a month as I'd moved house. The problem I have now is that it won't recognise the 1Gb memory card I have in it at all. It will recognise a workmates 512 Mb card however. I know it is officially spec'ed for 512 cards, but it's widely known it will take 1gb, and had been doing fine with this card for the year I had it. I've tried reformatting the card to no avail, but the strange thing is that it works on my PC just fine? Anyhow, anyone here have any tips for sorting it? Cheers |

| 524327 | 2008-04-17 08:20:00 | Worst phone I've ever had. Seriously, I had so many problems in the time I had it and I would never buy a Motorola after that. Sharp (for Vodafone) and Sanyo (Telecom) make much better phones imo. |

| 524328 | 2008-04-17 08:51:00 | V3x only supports up to 512MB consider the people that support the 1GB lucky but even if the 1Gb works on the v3x it'll probably show up as 512mB Get a new fone.Motorola is bad! |

This is not true. The phone is just old, and ofcourse at the time when they were made, even 512MB in the microSD media was not easy to find. You can try any 1~2gb card that you get from the retail stores and see for yourself that the phone recognizes this perfectly fine. Only problem is that they get very very slow! Same goes with all Moto phones, I can personally verify that on my Z3 (very nice phone if you wanna go that way, also a bit old though not as old as the V3x) it was advertised (depending on which countries ads you looked at be able to have 512~1gb expandable memory. Of course 2gb works fine, but I can say that if you fill it up with 2gb of songs and you want to use the stock music player software you could be waiting a very long time for it to find everything. The processor is very slow. If you go Moto, check out this forum [www.modmymoto.com been very helpful for me to fully mod out my phone. Flashed it with some unbranded firmware and the phone automatically performed round 50% faster than the Vodafone branded counterpart. You'll probably also find that the photo / video capture through these phones is terrible for a 2MP camera (yeah, it looks good on the phone, but not near good enough on a computer screen), firmware upgrades fix these too. Not sure if VFNZ has actually gotten around to catching up with these things yet but I know up to about a year ago, they were still coming with old/slow firmware, lagging the phone like hell. EDIT: Oh crap, just realised how my post isn't really helpful now :S Didn't see the damn date of initial post, the guy must have bought something by now already. @Sick Puppy, if phone is no longer under warranty, check out the forum as linked above and make a post on there, someone will let you know the relevant software update you can make. Ofcourse don't attempt this if phone is under warranty as it will just give Motorolla NZ grounds to not cover you under warranty for anything else that might happen. |

| 524330 | 2008-04-17 11:31:00 | I had a few non branded motorola mobiles in the past because Motorola Hk do not sell branded phones unlike vodafone However after a few months each mobile started to have problems but then motorola mobiles OS are hard to use as well. I gave a motorola a chance and hope their mobiles improve their OS. For the past 3 years I've only had 3 people purchasing a motorola mobile off me The rest were simply nokia and sony ericsson. |

Ofcourse don't attempt this if phone is under warranty as it will just give Motorolla NZ grounds to not cover you under warranty for anything else that might happen . All good Deathwish, I only just reposted in the thread tonight! lol Cliffs notes are: Feb 07: Got the phone . Warranty: One year . Also got PC software and cable to sync with PC Mar 07: Got a 1GB card- worked fine- downloaded music etc, all good- recognises 1gb . Jan 08: Got sick of niggly problems (see today's post) and battery was crapping out, so taken in for repairs . . . Feb 08: Got phone back- updated software, new hinge . Won't recognise memory card at all . As I said, I know they are meant to have 512mb, but it's always taken a 1GB without a problem, so why now? :groan: I know Motorola's are crap- after this and my fiancee's one, we are both going Nokia next time, but I don't really want to go laying out for new phones just yet . lol I am very tempted to modify the phone, but will see if there is anything I can do for it beforehand with Vodafone/ original software- if I can sort this then it is all good- I can live with it being slow, but once I modify it there is no going back . . . I figure since it hasn't been used since it was repaired I might have an option with getting them to have another look at it, just have to work out whether it's the card, the software or the hardware . . . [Deathwish- slightly OT, but I noted your sig- what kind of MR2 you have?] |

I gave a motorola a chance and hope their mobiles improve their OS . For the past 3 years I've only had 3 people purchasing a motorola mobile off me The rest were simply nokia and sony ericsson . Wow, thats pretty wierd, where do you sell? :P I work part time only Friday/Sunday now and will sell at least 5 in a month, they're old now but still popular, don't have to do much selling for most phones nowadays actually, people just come in and go "I want this!" and thats it haha . But yeah, can't believe that . . . didn't you atleast have that surge during Christmas '06 when literally EVERYONE that bought a cellphone was buying Motorolla? Thats when they had just dropped the prices on a few of their phones (like the V3X which at the time had gone down to half price, shortly after dropped even lower) . If I remember correctly, alone I sold about 200 Motorolla phones between November '06 and end of that December . Thats how I got my free Z3  Now we sell more Nokia/SE and they're most popular . The store sells maybe 1 Telecom phone per week, but rarely more than that . I have been hearing heaps of problems about Motorolla phones, and maybe mines just that diamond in the rough . It has lasted me over a year now, very surprisingly considering the way I treat it . It stays in my pocket full time, through rainfall and sunshine . I imagine it gets alot of moisture but it's never crapped out . I used it for all my recording purposes, though it isn't the best, the camera is great (modified firmwares so it now records directly to MP4 format) . Admittedly, the phone was in shocking form when I got it from Motorolla, maybe I only got some factory 2nd or something because they sent it for free, but yeah, it was real bad . Very slow, extremely bad camera, but after I replaced with some updated US firmware (unforunately there is no updates for NZ Motorola phones that I could find on their web site, they do many other countries, but not us) and it has run smooth and performed well ever since . [Deathwish- slightly OT, but I noted your sig- what kind of MR2 you have?] Yeah, its a '91 SW20, manual ofcourse :) Theres a photo of it in this nice forum sig I made, which I unfortunately can not use on these forums :( ( . imageshack . us/img225/7779/forumsigfinalam4 . png" target="_blank">img225 . imageshack . us) . I bought it when I was 17, and was quoted something like $800 yr to get a $5000 turbo one covered with 3rd party insurance, versus this one which I was lucky to have gotten for cheap, which has full insurance for about $400 yearly . Hope to get a gen 5 some day, but they're increasing in price so much because how rare they are, and ofcourse you can't import them in anymore :( By the time I'm old enough for it to be economically feasible to own a turbo, they will unfortunately be too old by then . I'm a big fan of these little cars, might have to find me some other reasonably economic mid engine vehicle . If I'm lucky, the Honda NSX will have come down in price by quite alot by then  |

| 524333 | 2008-04-18 12:42:00 | Well, mine lasted for about a year too, just the problems it had were getting annoying . . . a workmate is bringing in a 512Mb and a 2Gb card on Monday- if they work, I'll just buy another one . It is annoying however that it works on my PC but not my phone is all, especially after its been 'repaired' . I mean, my next phone will be a Nokia 5700, and I think they take 4Gb cards- why bother with a 1Gb card?! Grrr! lol When I'm not so busy I'll loot at flashing it with aftermarket software- I have another phone, I can live with bricking this one . . . Nice one on the MR2 BTW- can't see the pic, but nice cars nonetheless . If you want the turbo, then lump the insurance and get it! I always wnted to have a drive of the AW11 (I'd even give the SC version a crack!), but they are long past their prime! lol My Curren will do for now . . . :D |

| 524334 | 2008-04-18 16:54:00 | I've sold one Motorola V3 that was about 4 years ago?lol.. and they still selling them at vodafone.Made me laugh! I sold v3x 3.5 years ago. Noone bought them.It wasn't until it was extinct thru motorola hk and was release thru vodafone nz where people became so interested I then tried selling the new Motorola V9,V8. One person bought the motorola K1 off me about 1 year ago. One person bought a Motorola ROKR E1 off me 2 years ago One person bought a Motorola Mpx 220 off me I think 2 years ago Oh its been such a long since I had a motorola sale. People kept asking me if I sell iphones but i simply refuse to sell it to them due to warranty and unlocking issues. I just don't know why motorola have so many problems. Most of the phone's motherboard has been replaced by motorola hk.Feel like hitting motorola right now actually |
