730764 2008-12-19 00:24:00 Good point! We switched 3 months FROM Ihug at home ... at first it seemed like a good idea, better cap and stuff for less.. Ihug were having issues where we couldnt email Xtra / Hotmail users for about 2 months around the start of the year too.. Sooooo unimpressed by them!

A mate switched over to them in Henderson, coz his kids were constantly going over their limit with Xtra. They switched him over, he'd been using them for a week, then rang up and they were like "Well actually you arent even supposed to be able to get ADSL according to us?" and he says "Well, Im connected and using it now ..."
He got offered a better deal elsewhere so switched away too...

Some ISPs are just so dumb!

730765 2008-12-19 00:37:00 Xnet has been getting worse lately. Lots of outages with no explaination for them, and their email system was out for 3 days this week. Also internatonal website loading speeds in peak times is slow, almost dialup speed. They also don't reply to email support requests. I had a billing issue that was never answered. You also only get ADSL, not 2+ on their regular plan. You have to pay a lot more to get ADSL 2+

My parents use Telecom, and they get full speed ADSL 2+ for no additional fee, since telecom upgraded their plans. They are also happy with the service and reliability.

x2!!

Youre not one of these torrent users are you?? If you are thats probably why

You're probably hogging every one else's bandwidth

730768 2008-12-19 02:24:00 although telecom doubled our monthly data allowance from 3gig to 6gig :D GameJunkie (72)
730769 2008-12-19 02:33:00 6 Gig a month - Yikes  Mind you if you are not downloading a lot then I spose it Ok. Telstra - we have 80 Gig a month - OK cheating a bit - running a Business from home and a lot of that is work related - at least 30 -50 Gig a month.

Couple of things about the survey - The pricing list doesn't take into account the "bundle" deals / packages they have - so included is the TV, two phone lines, additional programs - because if you took the internet charges alone they look cheaper. Straight internet without the package is quite expensive.

The speed test - HA! depending on where you select and what time of day the difference is quite high.

730770 2008-12-19 02:37:00 Snce I've been with Xnet (Oct 2006 I think), well must be, its been longer than a year.

I've never gone past 5-5.2 GB. Even tho my cap (which I capped) is 15 GB

You get the international speed problems just viewing Youtube hosted videos at night. They are continously stopping and buffering.I don't know about torrants as I don't use them.

That usually happens anytime of the day, not just at night

I don't know about torrents as I don't use them.

I dont either. BUT I think it maybe faster than the normal plans

And probably why other users (on the other plans) have probs downloading files, at a decent speed

I dont use torrents either but I don't get buffering with YouTube but then that's not saying much. Downloading stuff still takes ages.
