730690 2008-12-18 20:20:00 I've just built a new computer using a Gigabyte MA78GPM-DS2H motherboard (Onboard Radeon HD 3200), and I can't get the onboard HDMI working.

I have enabled HDMI in the BIOS & installed all the correct drivers, but when I tell it to display anything on my 42" Toshiba LCD TV, nothing shows up. It doesn't work on my flatmate's older ATI board with onboard HDMI either, but it works fine with my other flatmate's laptop (Geforce 8400 mobile) :badpc:

Any Ideas?

730691 2008-12-18 20:38:00 So you've configured it using CCC?

If the HDMI sound doesnt work on your system, go to device manager. Is there another HD Audio entry under sounds with a ? by it??

If there is, delete it. Then reboot.

I had the same issue here (using a HD 3450 card). The HDMI sound wouldnt work, until I noticed the ? in device manager, delete it then rebooted

Did you select / press the right button on the TV??

Also for the sound (from the GB site for this mobo)

Does the HDMI port on this motherboard support 5.1 channels audio output?

Yes, the HDMI port on this motherboard supports 5.1 channels audio output.

After installing the HDMI device, make sure the default device for sound playback is the HDMI device.

Please note the HDMI audio output only supports AC3, DTS and 2-channel-LPCM formats. (AC3 and DTS require the use of an external decoder for decoding.)

730692 2009-01-03 00:19:00 Sorry it took me so long to get back to this thread - been without the net for about a month.

I have configured it using the ATI control centre & all devices in device manager are installed correctly.

The TV is set up correctly because I can take the cable out of my computer & plug it into my flatmates laptop & it works. When I tell my computer to use HDMI, I get no picture & no sound.

730693 2009-01-03 00:29:00 If HDMI sound isnt working, go into device manager and find the other high definition entry, (besides HD Audio (if this is onboard).

Double click on it, and go to the driver tab / update driver entry

I found this can be hit and miss, trying to get the HDMI Audio driver to install, let alone work

Altho it may also depend on what kind of videocard it is (If HDMI is on it). Some earlier versions of the ATI drivers installed the sound driver, (from ASUS, but then I found out these had a bug, they left a white pixel on your screen, which I thought was a dead pixel or whatever its called, it wasnt,), some dont (Like the latest version of the ATI drivers)

730694 2009-01-03 00:37:00 Look in your other thread about the sound

There maybe a switch on the TV to switch it to HDMI or something, did you try playing round with it?

730695 2009-01-03 00:59:00 I tried all sorts of settings on the TV & Both HDMI inputs. My flatmate's laptop worked no matter how the TV was set up, and nothing made my computer display anything through HDMI Greven (91)
730696 2009-01-03 04:21:00 maybe you are having a DRM issue. Is the card, driver and cable HDCP compliant? ughnz (8297)
730697 2009-01-03 04:33:00 The TV & card are both HDCP compliant. I assume all HDMI cables are HDCP compliant. I'm not too worried about the sound - I just want to get HDMI video working.

I've just installed Ubuntu & it is doing something even stranger in there. The ATI control panel detects my Viewsonic VX922 monitor (Using VGA) and my Toshiba LCD TV (HDMI) & lets me give them different settings, but it seems to only control the VGA connection. When I tell it to change the resolution on the monitor, it does what it is told, but when I tell it to change the resolution on the TV (Defaulted to 1080P but it is only a 720P TV), it changes the resolution on my monitor instead.

730698 2009-01-03 04:40:00 Sounds more and more like a HDCP issue, and no, not all HDMI cables are HDCP compliant. ughnz (8297)
730699 2009-01-03 05:12:00 If it is a HDCP issue, why does my flatmate's laptop work? Do ATI enforce HDCP & Nvidia don't? Greven (91)
