Then we'll see who's the tough guys ... um.... no hang on .... :D :D Yes bit of a fuss over a small insignificant earthquake. But the again Auckland is meant to have the above, not earthquakes. Sooner or later, Wellington will fall off the North Island, Fiordland will disappear off the South Island, etc. Here we just have the occasional flood apparently. Well, I guess seeing as there are stop banks by the river down the road......... |

Trevor :) Someone has a theory that those folks up here who felt the quake were the ones situated on volcanic faults -- all that scoria and rubble transmits the vibrations. Here is everything non-volcano dwellers South of the Bombay's need to know about the game of Russian Rouletee we tough Aucklanders play: www.gns.cri.nz I particulary liked this little note: "A volcanic eruption in Auckland is expected to occur after only a short period of earthquakes lasting perhaps several days to a few weeks." And we don't wrestle sheep, cause the wool gives us a rash. |

Thanks for that info Bruce, it brings the following thoughts to mind: Sitting on a pile of scoria gets me all hot and the earth moves more for me. I should take a different route to work... oh wait- I work from home. A few days???... but I was going to buy a new car tomorrow. I can stop taking the pills for the rash and get a prescription for Delirium Tremens instead. |
