| 526360 | 2007-02-22 12:25:00 | Off the top of my head I'm thinking AMD 3800 or 4200 X2 2GB Ram 400GB HD 7600GT video card Asus Motherboard to suit (non SLI, thats a wank unless you have 2 video cards, I'd rather have the pci slots, Infact I require 4 at a minimum) ASUS DVD Writer Case and PSU I already have Mouse and KB, whatever I have handy Monitor, I would be looking at a 21in LCD further down the line, Will use the 19 CRT for the meantime TV Capture card with hardware mpeg2 Encoder. This is what i bought in June AMD 4200 X2 (socket 939) 2 x 1 gig Corsair 3500 xl ram sticks 2 x 500 gig Haitachi Sata 2 Hd's 1 x 7900 GTX MSi 512 meg Video card Asus a8n32 sli deluxe motherboard. Pioneer 111D DVD burner Ennermax 600 watt power supply Accousticase Case with noise reduction foam 2 x Glacialtech fans. 1x floppy  |

Haven't changed the pics........ Er........because I'm hopeless at editing the webpages? Its not meant to be linking to anything. Sigh.......more editing.............. |

| 526362 | 2007-02-23 03:47:00 | Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 SUPER TALENT 2GB DDR2-800 PC6400 DUAL CHANNEL KIT 4-4-3-8 Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB XFX Geforce 7950GT Enermex Liberty 500w Samsung 904B Generic Case, Keyboard and Mouse The E6300 offer awesome value and paired with the DS3 and some "value" DDR800 should easily hit 3.2GHz even with the stock cooler and a moderate vcore increase. It really is a crime not to overclock these chips theyre just begging for it! If you don't like Super Talent swap it with the equivalent G Skill or Corsair sticks, they're all based on Promis IC's so it wont make much difference. Promos IC's are good for 900MHz+ if you want to go any higher you'd need Micon D9 based memory. If you cant stand Gigabytes stupid colour scheme swap in either the Asus P5B-E or P5B-Deluxe it wont make any difference. The Abit AB9 Quad GT looks awesome but isn't available in NZ yet, theres also pre-production photos of a DFI 965 popping up around the web but no idea when it will be released. The 7950GT or 7900GS are currently the best bang for buck video cards available, but remember nVidia and ATi will release mid range DX10 card in a couple of months. If the 7900 series is too much money to waste for a card you'll replace in a few month do what i did and grab a Palit 7600GS Sonic, its a 7600GS with DDR3 so it'll easily clock to 7600GT+, and should be good for physics when nVidia and ATi finally get round to releasing support for it. Harddrives are really a no brainer, buy enough storage to suit your needs. The people that reckonmend generic PSU's and Thermaltake cases deserve to have they're reproductive organs removed! A generic PSU is a time bomb just waiting to kill your new PC, and the only sane people who buy Thermaltake products arent old enough to legal get a drivers license ;) |

Right oh. |

| 526364 | 2007-02-23 07:05:00 | So you'd take a generic case over a Thermaltake case? Right oh. there is nothing wrong (apart from the PSU) with a lot of the generic cases. |
