So I guess there's more than one kind..?

527146 2007-02-24 08:13:00 Hondas are what old people drive. Go to the UK and almost all the hondas on the road are drive by the grey power.

Don't tell Jenson Button or Rubins Barrichello that!

527148 2007-02-24 15:21:00 I don't understand why people don't "get it" about diesels.

If gas engines were so good and economical, then why do ALL the over-the-road and even smaller in-town delivery vehicles use diesel?

The bean counters in this industry KNOW that diesel is the far better fuel...

Engine wear is less as diesel is itself a lubricating fuel.

Maintenance is less..

Fuel consumption is less...

Power is higher...for a thumbnail idea, just multiply the rated hp of a diesel by about 4.5 and see the values get to an easier to understand number...if hp is all you understand!

There are a lot of mitigating things that need to be understood...but if gasoline was as good as diesel as a fuel..then why don't you see it used in big rigs? Hint: You don't.

It's "Economics, 1-A"

527149 2007-02-24 22:50:00 A 1985 Nissan Datsun .
Whats a D4 and he probably wouldn't care anyway .
The only moan he has is the cost now compared with petrol .

So I guess there's more than one kind . . ? lol i forgot about the dozers .

D4 is the new range of deisels in toyota hiluxs . an '85 datsun is gutless and you would have a big smile on your face if you take any new deisel for a drive .

joe, diesels are great IF they have a load . trucks, dielevery vechiles, tradesmen etc all carry loads nearly all the time . average joe blog driving to work dosn't carry any load . what tips the scale is the way tax is done here . you pay the same tax requardless of how much fuel you use . small econimical vechiles pay the same tax which is a sizeable cost . hence the amount of wound back vechiles and people driving with no speedo's . thats why some people like deisels, cheaper to run if you cheat your way out of paying the tax .

2ndly Maintenance is MORE . which of course people skimp on which cost them big later on when the motor dies .

i forgot . . . . diesels cost more to buy .

don't get me wrong i love good diesels but you just have to make sure its worth having one .
