731657 2008-12-22 23:08:00 SolMeister, thanks. I do still have both parts of the vmware software and will install/reinstall if that is what is necessary. I think that I may have deleted vmware through My Computer >C > Program Files and not Control Panel >Add/Remove Programs.
That could well explain vmware( Vpro I think it was) opening and trying to install/download items i was getting from the net but would drop out because it could not find a necessary part to function. As I said vmware still showed in Add/Remove and I thought I had removed it. I had, the wrong way, and in doing so had left parts of it behind, possibly the browser-appliance or the player.
I have completely removed VMWare Sandbox now, as I have the remnants left behind (drivers & paths I suppose) of other programs I removed in the same way.
I know better now not to delete Directories using Program Files.
As Speedy pointed out about in his last reply, hits the nail on the head.
I have unearthed the SuperAntiSpyware folder and a few other relevant folders in 'C' Documents & Settings\gza\Application Data and am removing them from there: hopefully there's no harm in doing this??
As for LogMeIn. I cannot find hide nor hair of it, neither can Windows Search. Perhaps C Cleaner's Ruthlessness eclipses that of the Barbarian gza. Instant promotion to Warlord Unfettered goes to C Cleaner .

Thank you for your input.

The extra good news that the computer is running without any problems at present, hope I can keep it in future that way.

731658 2008-12-22 23:28:00 Once you uninstall whatever program, it should be safe to delete their folder/s in documents and settings

Deleting program folders, without uninstalling them first, could be the reason why youre having these probs

731659 2008-12-23 01:37:00 yeah, could well be the root of it. I usually do uninstall programs via Add/Remove but obviously there were some that weren't removed that way, a bad practice developed. Most probably bought about by programs that for some reason would not be removed the correct way saw me going in the other way to oust them, especially if the C partition had become low on space and I needed some there ( temp files while creating an .iso or like??).

You asked a couple of posts back if there are any X's or !'s in Device Manager, I overlooked the reply to you question; yes there was one in section 'Mice & other pointing Devices' in respect to 'HID-compliant mouse'. I disabled that a week or so back after it showed when the tech I had got in to look into the no-go keyboard problem I had enabled HID for k-board and mouse. I don't have a USB mouse so I disabled it. Re-enabled it a moment ago, so nothing out of place in that quarter.

Trojan Remover: Set to do a Fast scan at startup and when I use it to do a manual scan is not producing a TRLOG. Not one anywhere in computer. Seems to have dissappeared and TR is not showing in ADD/Remove Programs yet all folders are in place elsewhere. Thus I cannot uninstall it using the correct method in order to install the new d-load of it hoping this will produce a log file.
Also,a wealth of Windows updates no longer show in ADD/Remove but the Security Updates are still there. Have set Auto Update to work now to see if any are required, com was fully loaded 'til ---last night. Betcha that I have wiped them out with misuse of C Cleaners 'Tools' > 'Uninstall'. Unfixed Odds of ALL the money in the world :1 & your onto a winner there !!

Gotta laugh 'coz its a riot

Cheers

731660 2008-12-23 01:49:00 Is show updates ticked in add/remove programs?

If it isnt you wont see all of the updates (you wont see any at all)

If you want I could log in from here using teamviewer. And check things out.

You'll see what I'm doing

731661 2008-12-23 05:08:00 Hi Speedy,sorry, I've been out few hours;yes, show updates is ticked.
You can have a look if you like but I'm not set up for Remote Access. Whats the procedure to set it up?

I used C Cleaner to uninstall TR & reinstalled TR 6.7.5, complete with log-book.

731662 2008-12-23 05:22:00 I mean Remote Assistance. I have found the how to info in Help and Support but I think I have to wait for you to be online for the connection to be made. I'll wait.
Just clicked "Invite someone to help" and get message " current system settings prevent me from sending an invitation".

731663 2008-12-23 05:24:00 Get this (www.teamviewer.com)

Its heaps better than remote desktop/assistance. I dont use Windows messenger anyway. So I cant use it

Tell me what the code is (send a PM to me) when youre ready. If you want me to check now that is

731665 2008-12-23 06:17:00 ok. I have Team Viewer installed and running.

The 3 files that couldn't be found by remote desktop in SP3 were staxmem.dll, admexS.dll and AppConf.dll I stopped trying after the 3rd no show in SP3 i386.
Wouldn't have worked without the 1st of them anyway
