2008-12-20 08:51:00 | Vista Ultimate: 59 (presently), probably drops to 50-55 or so on a fresh boot :) | jwil1 (65) | |
2008-12-20 08:58:00 | Vista Ultimate: 69 from boot (use avast, objectdock, whs, messenger, daemon tools, ultramon etc) | hueybot3000 (3646) | |
2008-12-20 10:12:00 | Vista on a laptop ... 80 processes! I think I win so far. :p Yes, I know I can trim that down a tad, but I can't be bothered. My Fedora desktop yonks ago had a kernel version that spawned a tonne of USB daemons each time it "detected" my card reader. Had 24,000 processes (daemons) running one stage until I sorted it out.

2008-12-20 10:27:00 | How the hell do you guys get so many processes? :badpc:Laptop. Add wireless, bluetooth, synaptic stuff, power management/battery, security apps, more for the ATi graphics ... plus a generous serving of Vista svchost processes and it all adds up! | Jen (38) | |
2008-12-20 19:03:00 | XP Desktop 75 Wow, that's quite a few for an XP desktop ! It seems that Vista Laptops have quite a few more processes as part of their basic set up. Probably one reason why those early ones sold by Hardley Norman etc with 512meg crashed a lot !
