2007-02-24 21:04:00 | Even WITH about 20 tabs in Firefox, Kontact, amaroK, 2x chat programs, torrent client, encoding a video file, vnc viewer, K3b, OpenOffice Spreadsheet I was still using just under 500MB. THATS how things are supposed to be ;) Is that with Vista Home or Ultimate? Or WinXP?

2007-02-24 21:08:00 | I used vista home on a display pc at noel leemings, slow as! Had decent ram and a 3ghz processor. I played around with Vista Home at the Warehouse Stationary, on a PC with 512 RAM and a mid or low AMD Athlon. First thing I noticed was that the screen saver was jerky!! Opening of folders and other undemanding things was OK.

2007-02-24 22:37:00 | You got it Chilling. Windows hasn't been an O/S that sits in the background for ages. Its all the crap built into it that hogs the resources. Yes, Roll on FirefoxOS or GoogleOS. I might even write one myself ! Regards Digby

2007-02-25 00:18:00 | Microsoft just needs to stop trying to do all the things that it thinks people want it to do. Its nice to have all these tools and widgets when you need them and for those who need them but Microsoft should make it extremely customizable so you can shut off a lot of crap when you dont need it which is 99% of the time and even when you do need it, theres a lot of better programs that you can download anyway. But I wouldn't mind using FireFoxOS or GoogleOS for that matter as long as it doesn't turn into another MS OS. | beeswax34 (63) | |

Beeswax, I think it is less about giving people what they need and more to do with pushing out other software vendors, the people who provide third party apps, AV/security, media players and codecs, widgets, etc. i.e. They want all the business that goes on on a computer, every last bit of it. It has nothing at all to do with providing choice. |

2007-02-25 22:57:00 | Im running Vista business very nicely on 1gig of ram, however i do think people should get 2 gigs since the OS idles at around 700megs.. if you use something like photoshop on top of that you would need more. | noone (22) | |
