730979 2008-12-19 09:29:00 I have two items I wish to include (with menu) on a DVD. The first item is an ordinary video (with VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders), the second a slideshow made in ProShow Gold. I want these to play on a TV through an ordinary DVD player. I also want to select each item on a menu when it first starts up on the DVD player.

My question is - which program do I use to make the menu, and use to burn these two programmes onto a disc. I already have the programmes compiled, and both with play on a DVD player.

I initially thought this would be easy to do - now I can see pitfalls.:(

:help:

730980 2008-12-19 10:22:00 Not to sure if DVD flick (http://www.dvdflick.net/) will do the menus - it says the latest version does ??

Edit- have a look at the guide - it says it does

Edit 2 - if you get it you may need to right click the big download button / save as -- the links to the mirrors seem to go in circles.

+1 for DVD Flick, its the best DVD Authoring program I've used so far, and I can confirm that it can create titles/menus

The Simple Black design for the menu is quite good, simple and effective.

730982 2008-12-19 18:06:00 I was going to suggest Nero- one of the earlier versions before 8.0, but that DVD Flick looks like it does the same thing, except in Nero you can sex up the menus a bit more...but it's only a menu right ! IMO if you choose to use software like DVD Flick it would be nice to throw a donation their way, keeps development going and a bit of competition for the big guys. limepile (96)
730983 2008-12-19 20:08:00 Yes, I'll have a look at both. Had a quick look at DVD Flick (I'm a bit confused about what I'm supposed to do!).

I also have Nero 6.

730984 2008-12-19 22:17:00 Sorry for being dim/dumb, but I didn't manage to do anything! I tried to add the video file in DV Flick - that wouldn't happen . I can see the video in DVD Shrink ok .

Looked at ProShow Gold - which said you could add a video clip (but I think they meant of the show you have been working with in their programme - not another video from somewhere else!) . :(

If its a pirated movie, I doubt anyone here will help you.

Its better to burn to + or - blanks

730987 2008-12-20 00:21:00 Mine is not! Pirated, I mean . The video is a copy of a work debate (a fun thing) . The slide show is of still pics of the same event I took myself and made into a slideshow with music background . I would like to put the two items on a DVD for the people involved .

I'm making sort-of progress - I've imported the video into ProShow Gold - but the aspect ratio is wrong . Tried to fix this, but so far no-go . :(

730988 2008-12-20 00:58:00 To get DVD Flick to burn the videos, you may need to convert them to . avi first .

This is not a fast process, the more power your PC has the faster it will convert - 3 hours to convert a DVD to . avi is not uncommon .

A free one is VLC player ( . videolan . org/vlc/" target="_blank">www . videolan . org) - instructions on Guff on how to convert here ( . com/software/dvds/rip-dvds-with-vlc-230349 . php" target="_blank">lifehacker . com) with full instructions here ( . therealcaffeine . com/how-to/rip-dvd-with-vlc/" target="_blank">www . therealcaffeine . com) - they may seema little daunting but if you follow them through its not that hard .

There are many paid ones that are a snap to use, one is DVDFab Video Converter ( . dvdfab . com/video-fab-converter . htm" target="_blank">www . dvdfab . com) - I have the paid version - But I cant remember if the trial puts on a watermark or not .

Another paid one is A-One DVD ripper - Giveaway of the Day gave it away a while back - If you want to try it, I have the Install exe's and Give Away of the days Code they supplied . --PM me .
