527968 2007-02-25 05:04:00 Way OT...but I have a meteorite that I want to know about.

There is some sort of market for this stuff...and I have seen the occasional site about them..but does anyone here have any experience in these things?

Here's some more info about one of them I have:

# Structural Class: Medium Octahedrite (Om)--Anomalous Iron
# Chemical Class: IIICD
# 5.5lb/2.495kg

527971 2007-02-25 06:19:00 SurferJoe, if you lift your arm up . . . about 57degrees from horizontal, aim it slightly back until you feel your collar bone creek . . . spit into the wind and you should be pointing at Alpha Centuri . . . that's where it came from .

Unless of course it has a plug on it, in which case it is an ordinary iron and you should read this thread:

I don't know a lot about meteorites, but isn't octahedral form slightly unusual?

Quite common when they are swarming during the mating season. (relatively speaking).
In some locations, all meteorites are unusual. E.G., in your lunch box.

You'd have to be careful it's not 'hot'

Specially if it's the iron you suggested earlier.
