I have just installed"Big Dog Linux 64" on a Hewlett Packard laptop and it performs perfectly on Google Chrome. No problems installing Fat Dog. Use an msdos partition table, and place the loader in MBR. Set BIOS to Legacy. |

Now get lightbox working :p Lightbox goes out of its way to not support Linux, not the other way round, so the only way to do it is with a Windows virtual machine. Nothing that the Linux developers can do to change it, as for whatever reason Lightbox don't want Linux folk to run their service. |

| 1432980 | 2017-03-18 20:52:00 | In reality lightbox chose to use MS silverlight and MS don't support silverlight under Linux. There is Pipelight that's supposed to work but I couldn't get it to. I wish they would use HTML5 or something but they have hardly gone out of their way not to support Linux, rather they have simply not considered it worth the effort for such a tiny part of the market, not quite the same thing. Not putting any effort into supporting something is not the same as actively avoiding it. Netflix had the same problem as well as several other streaming services, they added HTML5 support which fixes it but only if you want to use Chrome on Linux. FF etc under Linux can't do Netflix either (at least as of a few months ago when I last tried) Where this all comes from is several past attempts to use Linux as a media PC for my Lounge. I set a list of requirements for what I wanted and then attempted to get it working. Final result was a failure and I use windows instead. My list and Linux/ Windows results: Playing media files from NAS - Yes/ Yes Browsing/Youtube - Yes/ Yes Netflix - Yes Chrome only/ Yes Multiple options Lightbox - No/ Yes Blu-ray playback - No/ Yes Freeview PVR - No/Yes (possible under linux but not with this tuner and not simple to set up) So if you don't care about the last 3 then it's great. |
