1432843 2017-03-14 07:34:00 Who wants to live on that? stuffaction://ipadImage/17730730 that is an insult, as I read it.....means testing for Super ? And here I am struggling to keep head above water. Why doesn't he just offer euthanasia for those who can no longer survive on the basic current pension
What a prick! Sooner he goes the better!

1432844 2017-03-14 07:51:00 It's just a matter of living off it if you have no other income. We have two pensions coming in and we are still struggling. Before we retired we used to have takeaways each Friday night but we can't afford to do that now. Luckily we have some savings but that is only going to last a few years and thankfully we are mortgage free.

Of course the politicians don't need to worry. On top of the miserly superannuation they receive a parliamentary pension so they will be okay. They will only do something about it if it affects them, but they are okay with their parliamentary privileges so they don't have to worry - so no change to the pension for some time yet. You'll just have to suffer and like it.

1432845 2017-03-14 08:02:00 I shouldn't worry, Gareth Morgan probably wont get any traction. He should stick to motorbiking. Terry Porritt (14)
1432846 2017-03-14 08:41:00 I'm in favour of politicians salaries being tied in to correspond to the lower half of average incomes. The PM would receive the full 50% and the rest further down the pecking order would get a percentage corresponding to their ranking.

This would be a great incentive to run the "ship" a lot more efficiently!

A wasted vote Nick. There is no way that he will be getting anywhere near being elected. We have quite enough idiots with their noses in the trough already.

1432849 2017-03-14 19:00:00 Single, 25+ years $210.13 is the dole.

My mum is on a pension. She gets $800 ish a fortnight. She has no mortgage left to speak off. She does OK, she's saving $100 a fortnight.

Perhaps. However, I actually agree with the majority of their policies. I'd rather vote for a party I believe in, as opposed to tossing up between Labour and National.

Fair enough. That is how democracy is supposed to work. At least in this country we pretty much accept the result of our elections and get on with life instead of constantly trying to relitigate it as they appear to in some places:)
