1433517 2017-03-29 22:28:00 I have installed VirtualBox in Linux Fat Dog 64. Installation was fine. When I try to install the guest OS (W7) the 1st page of the Wizard is fine, but the second page has the <NEXT> button disabled, see attachment. I have reinstalled it, but is the same. Why? mzee (3324)
1433518 2017-03-30 03:24:00 Is it always disabled, or are you just not changing the required memory size? The "New" dialog in my Windows copy of VirtualBox disables the "Create" button unless you move the slider off 4MB MushHead (10626)

Maybe avoid the wizard and try the advance way

Can't move the slider, won't move! If I try to alter the 520 with the keyboard, it deletes but I can not type in the new numbers.

What is the 'advance way'? Can't find any settings, other than General settings.

1433524 2017-03-31 08:41:00 You use VBoxManage which is the command line interface. Whether it will work for you or not, I don't know. Normally use this for headless servers. Kame (312)
1433525 2017-03-31 09:27:00 Did you install the correct Virtualbox version for your Linux ?

A While back the comment was made in another Linux thread that not all programs for Linux will run on all distros. Looking at the Virtual box site there are several different versions for Linux.

It should be possible to use VirtualBox on most systems based on Linux kernel 2.6 or 3.x using either the VirtualBox installer or by doing a manual installation; see Section*2.3, “Installing on Linux hosts”. However, the formally tested and supported Linux distributions are those for which we offer a dedicated package.

1433526 2017-04-04 07:07:00 I have changed the Linux from Fat Dog 64 to Mint 64, and virtualbox has installed with no problems, with Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit as guest. All is good except that I can not get the Windows 7 to see the USB stick. When I plug it in, the file manager for Mint opens. CD works Ok. The machine USB's are set for 1 & 2. Wine also works as it should. Tried Crossover but it was no better than Wine V2.

This is all a learning curve, don't need it as dual booting is simpler and quicker. I use Linux for cruising the Net, email etc, and Windows for work. Got to keep my 82 year old brain alive!
