528557	2007-02-27 08:15:00	Anyone see tonight’s target program on TV3. They highlighted how much ticketek were ripping off consumers. They were even charging $8.50 for someone who was picking up a free ticket for a child. Absolutely disgusting. They also charge $8 for an internet booking, and then apparently they also charge the promoter a percentage of the ticket price. They must be raking it in. The booking fee can be 33% of the ticket price, which is a very high amount, especially as it is done online, where they must be making savings by not having to hire telephone operators. From my experience the ticketek site is rubbish, and crashes when they have a high demand for tickets. I remember trying to buy rolling stones tickets, and the website wouldn't work for hours, and I ended up missing out on them. Target also highlighted that there is very little real competition in the ticketing market (reminds me of telecom). I believe they are abusing their monopoly with these prices, and it sounds like they need some form regulation in the market to bring in the competition.	rogerp (6864)

528559	2007-02-27 08:54:00	People have been moaning about Ticketek's prices worldwide for years, many years, Yet even though they charge the highest prices in nearly every market they seemed to be the biggest player? Perhaps their service/competence warrants it? I cant say either way, But as far as I couldn't care less about a few extra dollars on the price of a ticket I do think the surcharge on free tickets and tickets purchased over their website to be a disgrace. Most concerts in NZ are done my Michael Coppell who have a formula on how much of a margin they need to make on a ticket compared to the venue size. The reason why Vector seats are more expensive is because it only seats 12k. Compared with 38,000 at Erriccson for u2. They charge more to retain their margin with less seats.	Tux (606)
528564	2007-02-28 11:39:00	And how do their prices compare with Ticketek? Well I paid $530.91 in total for 4 tickets from TicketMaster for the RHCP concert. The tickets were $129.90 each so that's an extra $11.31 which includes $4 for courier so not too bad. The ticket price itself is a bit steep I think but as stated by Tux they are playing at the Vector Arena so have to charge more.	CYaBro (73)
528565	2007-02-28 11:39:00	I was thinking of their added charges really. Guess you could call it their markup. Here Ticketek does bookings for some locally-produced plays & concerts whose prices are far lower than international acts. So their fee may be a proportionally big chunk of the ticket price. But that kind of field may be too small for Ticketmaster to want to enter..?	Laura (43)
