| 528345 | 2007-02-26 17:08:00 | I am trying to improve frame rates in MS Flight Simulator 2004. This program is designed to run at 20 fps and is even satisfactory at 15 fps. But with the heavy load of addon scenery I find I am getting down to 4/5 fps in some places. It's a bit like watching a slide show! If I hit the pause button I get a near perfect picture, so this seems to indicate that the deteration is caused by movement and rapidly changing scenery. If I move to an isolated area with no traffic and not much addon scenery I have no problem maintaning 25 fps. (fps locked at 25fps max) I would like an expert opinion on what I can do to improve this. CPU, vid card or ram. Or even a new computer. I have an Asus 939 M/B with an AMD 4000+ cpu. And an NVidia 7900GT card. plus 2 gigs ram. I have considered an FX cpu, but would any improvement warrant the cost? Dual core cpu's are no advantage. The program does not recognise the second core. With a 4200 X 2 cpu I was continualy dumped from the program. I would be grateful for any suggestions |
