2007-02-26 09:24:00 | There's a flat opposite to our flat Sometimes they would turn their music on really loud and their music has heavy bass also It is now 10:17Pm and I'm trying to study and can't study with these noise I was wondering if there are any law against loud noises such as loud music playing. Would noise control do anything about it?

2007-02-26 09:29:00 | Ring your local council after hours number. Give them the address and they will send their noise control officers round. If the noise is too much then the noise control officers will issue an abatement notice to the flat owners. If the noise cotinues ring your local council again. They will send the noise control officers around again and if they ind the noise still too much then they will seize the stereo (or part thereof) and the flat owners will have to go in and pay to get their stereo back tomorrow. | Tukapa (62) | |

2007-03-09 15:21:00 | ask them to turn it down, in person. failing that call noise control as after 10pm they have to quiet down. if that doesn't work follow murray's advice or get an even louder stereo, set it up outside facing their house and give 'em a blast once all their lights have been turned off for 30 minutes :D don't have a loud stereo? then remove the header pipe or maybe just the mufflers from you car. i got a noise control call once (and only once) because of my dirtbike at 2pm on a saturday. they refused to say who they were or where they were (so i couldn't ride up the other end of my property). obviously i just went back outside and set up a new track along all the boundaries:D they're yet to call back, and sound control never arrived. point being if you don't act reasonably you won't get a reasonable response.

2007-03-09 17:35:00 | sure it makes sense in one way to ask them to turn it down BUT.......I doubt they'll give a stuff after all they MUST be well aware that the noise is gonna get way past their walls and into the neighbours ears and they obviously dont give a damn so you are unlikely to get any kind of positive response.......the other thing is that if you go over and ask them to turn it down then they dont, or as often happens they do for just a little while then it goes up again .....and then you ring noise control the bad neighbours are surely gonna figure out whos' the 'nark' very quickly indeed and that could turn nasty.......better in some ways to simply ring noise control anyway that way the noisy buggers wont have a clue which neighbour has complained and you wont get targeted..... | drcspy (146) | |

Or invest in head phones and listen to your own music. Or earplugs. Or go to a library. Youll probably find nnoise control can only do so much. |
