Very few laid charges, most police laughed it off and some parents threw out their daughters because of it. Many still think the same way. Better not to judge womens' behaviour in the past when you are too young to know and are male to boot. I don't think it ever was like that "years ago", this is the type of stuff people say to justify witch hunts. In fact New Zealand has a pretty tough view on rapists and sex offenders and they are pretty much ostracisied (including by fellow inmates). Certainly you will find pockets of these sorts of views in gangs like the Mongrel Mob, but to suggest Police have generally laughed off rape complaints because they somehow blamed women is nonsense. In fact, the Police have been pretty efficient at prosecuting gangs and the like, probably more so than overseas where corruption is more common. I certainly don't think the Police are faultless, but they probably do better here than almost anywhere else but like any organisation they're going to get ratbags from time to time. |

I agreed to an extent. The problem I think is people who make false complaints and the other being people who leave it for 15 years + kind of make it hard to prove. In saying that have you ever met a convicted rapist? i have through juorneys of work, and yes I look at them like a peice of crap. |
