529159 2007-03-01 19:13:00 Anyone ever heard of it?

A quick Google points to torrents.
Is XPuE an official release?
Somehow I doubt it. The reason I'm asking is because a friend on another board had his machine formatted by "a tech" (yeah, whatever) who installed Windows uE.
Never heard of it.

"- It started getting a little slow, so I sent it to the dumbass tech
- He re-formatted the whole thing and installed Windows uE.
- He told me that the fan was about to die, and I needed to buy another one.
- The day after, the computer started to turn off-on-off-on, until I reset it.
- Took it back, and after some tests, he told me to buy the new fan.
- I bought the new fan.
- He installed and gave the machine back to me.
- I come to my office and when I open it, it turns on automatically (?) and with some weird reaction. Then started working just fine."

No idea what to tell him. I assume uE is a bootleg of some sort possibly with an activation crack(?)

529160 2007-03-01 19:16:00 I suspect it'll be one of those pirated re-branded versions floating around. Microsoft never put out such an OS. somebody (208)
529161 2007-03-01 19:19:00 Didn't think it was genuine.
Thanks for that. The guy's in Mexico, so there's not a lot I can do about reporting it.

I'll let him know he doesn't have a genuine OS anymore and that he'll have trouble with updates etc.

529163 2007-03-01 19:37:00 Yeah, I know all about unattended installs and answer files. Thanks. (MCP :) )

Just not up with all the dodgy versions of Windoze floating around.
Ultimate Edition is new to me.

Being a Spanish version makes sense, so he must be talking about this OS.
Hope he didn't pay for the..um.... work.

:illogical
