732731 2008-12-27 09:41:00 Try Synctoy (www.microsoft.com) - I know you can backup from Windows PC's either way < -> , so It may work with freenas - simply install it on a Windows Machine, tell it to back up what ever data/folder on freenas to where ever you want on another PC on the LAN, or External drive possibly connected to the machine that has freenas.. wainuitech (129)

Wow. I wish everything was automatic for me.
Do you want copies of files or maybe an image for example?
Next time I want to post here all I have to do is think about it and of course it will happen in an automatic manner.

WTF was that all about?

Anyway, SourceForge looks like it might be able to help you (There's many different ways described on this page):

So Beeswax34 I take it that the method(s) mentioned on your link actually stores everything off site.

In the event of a fire or theft I would want to recover as soon as possible.

This does not happen in an automatic manner in my view.

732735 2008-12-27 18:07:00 Thanks Wainuitech hadn't really thought of using synctoy is reverse (its currently used to backup selected folders to the server).

Thanks Beeswax I'll have a good read of that one. A couple of mates had suggested that rsync isn't always reliable, will give it a try anyway though.

Sweep all I wanted at this stage was the automatic copying of the data, yes it doesn't protect it from a fire or whatever but once the data's copied its rather simple to take the storage media offsite if I wanted to.

Files, images whatever format, I'm currently just looking at the various ways.

732736 2008-12-28 03:17:00 Looks like this (www.freenaskb.info) script might be the sort of thing I'm looking for.

Will give it a try in the next couple of days.

If anybodies got other suggestions keep them coming.
