oh dear (http://www . windowsvienna . com/)

on wikipedia too ( . wikipedia . org/wiki/Windows_Vienna" target="_blank">en . wikipedia . org)

So basically, MS is telling everyone to buy Vista for an exorbatant price, while planning to replace it in less than 3 years!

. . . by the end of 2009 Vienna will hit the shelves .
However, Microsoft needs to keep the buzz on Windows Vista for now and so they are not releasing any Windows Vienna official information to the public yet, expect for the fact that they are working on it .

:horrified

:yuck:

BASTARDS, this is a new low for MS . Sad thing is that they'll probably get away with it too:groan:
It explains why Vista costs so damn much; they need to make a profit quickly .

i was waiting for sp2, but it may not even happen!

So, who actually bought Vista?

ah, good point, i completely forgot about 2000/me

but still, it's been ages between xp and vista, and vista ain't cheap for something that will be obsolete in three years.... like most computer purchases come to think about it:rolleyes:

530660 2007-03-06 12:03:00 look, ok, so i didn't think that one through, i apologise, but they're still deliberately keeping quiet so they can continue to overcharge for vista, so they can make $billions off gullible consumers.... sound business practice actually, seeing as they have clearly gotten away with it many times before now

this also explains why they didn't spend all the resources spent on vista developing vienna instead; why sell once what you can sell twice

The 16 year old "reporter" needs to go back to school or get over his dyslexia.

This is actually old news now, it was posted here a short while ago .

And you're surprised?

The public are suckers mostly .

530663 2007-03-06 19:05:00 Yes, before any major product is released the developers are thinking and working on what they want to introduce next.

That is just natural and it has happened for hundreds of years and will continue to do so.

The intersting thing to me this time round for Windows is wether enough people will think it is not worth upgrading to Vista so that its sales become so poor that MS have to give up and work on Vienna faster !

I mean even if someone gave me a free copy I would not install it on my fairlyl new and powerful machine because of what I have heard about it.

It would be great to see M$ squirm and realise that they cannot con us with pretty visual interface upgrades.

530664 2007-03-06 19:09:00 I posted that the Vista replacement was due late 2009 just ahead of a post by motorbyclist in another thread.

From his first link
"In the past 20 years, the Microsoft Windows operating system has accumulated old code libraries that brought it to the size it has today, 2.5 GB and about 50 million lines of code (Windows Vista). These old code libraries consume resources and are often the targets of security exploits. The best way to avoid such problems, is to start from scratch, which is close to what Microsoft plans to do with Windows Vienna."

The customers may as well consider other OS that have had years of development :D

530665 2007-03-06 19:54:00 ... The public are suckers mostly. There's nothing new under the sun - PT Barnum said: "There's a sucker born every minute". Mr Gates is just capitalising on that well-known fact.

It's also well-known that anything good that you're not in on yourself can be defined as a scam. :D

Which is why so many 'angry' posts are made here about Vista by the 'targets' (us)...:)
