529988 2007-03-04 08:13:00 I know next to nothing about laptops, and a friend has just asked me for my opinion on the Compaq Presario F503, which he espied at HN for $1400.

So tell me, please, what is my opinion? Is the Presario good/bad, what is the battery life like? Good value-for-money?

Cheers

529989 2007-03-04 08:21:00 $1299.00 incl. GST at Computer Future (ChCh) so NH may be a tad dear.
Pricespy has the cheapest at $1242.19 including gst.

529990 2007-03-04 19:39:00 Whats the warranty?

Toshibas have a 3yr warranty. Check the model though, most have a 3 yr warranty I should say.
And I've seen a lot of really old Toshibas around still going without problems.

That is, if reliablity is an issue............

529991 2007-09-17 00:18:00 I got a compaq presario...a tidy machine with wireless connection. My concern is in it's security of its propriety hardware and software. Example: I bought a game and went online to patch it. Due to the anti-piracy software inherent in the dvd drive my game dvd no longer is recognised as genuine (doesn't work). My other concern is the DVD drive's zone locking capability. We should never buy into this system of controlling media as it does affect the innocent who is in the majority. Another concern is that I can't use the networking capability which will not only disallow any programs like browsers (other than IE funnily enuff) but also networking games.

PS. as for my login, I tried about a dozen different names and all came up as taken... bashing at the keyboard seemed to have got me through the registration process but does little for a return visit by me.

If you can't be imaginative enough to create a simple login and then can only post to a 6 month old thread, well then...! Greg (193)
