530645 2007-03-07 20:58:00 I think the research side is comlpete crap. Or else wouldnt murder be or the rise by the millions?

Young guys are risk takers because they dont know any better.

Young guys who have a few beers are bullet proof and talk twice as much.

Young guys who survive that end up being older guys who learnt their lesson.

being a young guy, i would like to confirm that:D

Naturally, you've put up
Warning - Speeding Motorbyclist
signs 200 metres each side of your house?

Speeding? Impossible, he's still wheelspinning so furiously for the first 300M that the acceleration is actually very gentle (Unless the tyre melts, then all bets are off).
There should be signs warning of an intermittent smoke visibility hazard though.

firstly, my 1300cc automagic starlet can only get wheelspin with the aid of water, an incline, and occasionally a lubricant:p although i've got it sideways once or twice (sliding too fast through a wet corner), on three wheels (dry corner), and every time i go up my mates 10km gravel road i nearly write my car off atleast once:blush: i swear that should be part of the NZ rally

secondly, on my road me doing 95kph or more on my bike where the sign for the corner says 45 is the least of your worries. it's they people in cars who come off the road atleast twice a month, and less that 20% are racing. it's the sleeping, inexperienced, and/or drunk that screw it up the most.

i'm not defending my actions, but i would like to swear loudly at any person who drives down my road at 30kph, txting, in a big 4WD i can't get around

ok, i know i'm rambling, but the point is: i don't blame video games, i have insurance, a licence (just) and don't whinge and ***** about the police doing their job as the don't actually get the 'revenue' and if i wasn't speeding i wouldn't be pulled up.

i speed, i pay the fine. if i cause an accident (yet to happen), i'll pay my excess. i accidentally back into a parked black holden at night when i'm exiting a steep driveway completely blind, i go door knocking in the rain looking for the owner, THEN pay the excess:2cents:

I don't follow you - if I take off spinning my wheels I accelerate pretty fast ...... I certainly wouldn't call the experience gentle.

Hows this, Peak hour traffic in Palmerston North (meaning the schools were out, streets were stressed) following a bus (empty apart from the driver) which has its hazard lights on and is wandering (mostly in its own lane) speeding up, slowing down, jamming on its brakes to avoid the imminent collision with whatever was in front of it. we get to the lights, fat ignorant biatch at the wheel was steering into the screen of her cellphone.....Couldn't tell if she was texting or merely reading the screen, Either way, Her attention sure as hell wasn't on her job.

Its a bloody bus for christ sakes, How stupid can you be and still get hired?

530649 2007-03-08 09:08:00 did i mention my road is open road? so you go 'cruising' (most people would call is 'tearing') around a BLIND corner to find a large vehicle doing 30kph downhill. if i was a truck/bus doing 70 around that it would have been an accident, and sitting behind her was VERY disconcerting, after the initial panic of course motorbyclist (188)

Oh well, if you only want a little wheelspin, different rules apply. But if you get the wheels REALLY spinning, they have very little traction really. (Maybe they sort of hover on the layer of smoke.) I saw this demonstrated in a rather large open top car with a ridiculous amount of power. The owner added NOX, and at 90+ MPH, when he dropped a cog or two, floored the pedal and pushed the NOX button it actually started slowing. Easing the power caused quite a kick in the pants. (He did not recommend driving like that on icy roads.) We returned some minutes later, and the area was still hazy. I was glad it was his license (and his countrymen) at risk, not mine. I wonder what the people behind us thought?

agreed, wheelspin is slower than maintaining traction as the force required to start a skid is less that the force required to maintain it. i know in moto-x a major problem is loss of acceleration due to lack of traction, as such many people (especially those on bigger machines with more weight and much more grunt) make deep ruts in order to use as much of their tyres as possible.

while your vehicle may accelerate fast, it could go faster if you didn't wheelspin
